The Company and the Role:
The Company is a successful independently owned hospitality group with businesses in London and along the South Coast including an establishment in Southampton.
This is a new position within this expanding company who are seeking an accomplished Bookkeeper to provide an overall bookkeeping service to the establishment in Southampton. After 6 months it is envisaged, the successful applicant will take on the bookkeeping for a second business.
Reporting into the General Manager and ultimately the Company Director, you will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing tax returns, and overseeing the financial health of the company, in doing so preparing financial statements for review by the company`s Director.
Key Features of the Role:
- Keep track of sales, purchases, payments and receipts, maintaining company ledgers
- Organise, collate, and record financial data on a day-to-day basis.
- Completing tax forms, submitting VAT returns and CIS returns.
- Managing profit and loss statements and balance sheets, working to an annual budget
- Produce reports for Directors.
- Paying regular bills for the company.
- Handling client invoices by recording and approving or denying the payments.
- Distributing money appropriately to various departments within the company.
- Payroll, payments to employees and reconciliation BAC’S.
- Maintaining office supplies by keeping an inventory and ordering new supplies as needed.
- Preparing purchase orders in accordance with requests for materials.
- Filing historical records and retrieving necessary documents as needed for others.
- Recording cash receipts and handling bank deposits and maintaining petty cash.
- Preparing information for auditors.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Be an accomplished Bookkeeper, Xero Certified, with a high level of experience using the software.
- Ideally hold an accounting / bookkeeping qualification.
- Previous experience in the hospitality industry is desirable but not essential
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Excellent Communication, Problem-solving skills, someone who pays attention to the detail
- Excellent PC / MS office skills, ideally advanced skills in Excel and Word
What’s on Offer?
This is an excellent opportunity within an expanding independently owned business.
Working hours are Mondays and Fridays 9am to 6pm, Tuesdays to Thursdays 10am to 6pm, with a 30 minute lunch break. Occasional weekend day depending on end of month reporting date.
Basic salary will be around £25,000 - £28,000 depending upon experience, possibly more for an exceptional candidate.
Holidays are 22 days plus bank and public holiday. There is free parking available and a staff discount of 25% of food in their establishments.
