The Company and the Role:

Wessex Cancer Trust is a medium-sized charity which offers support to people affected by cancer, their families and friends. The charity operates in Hampshire, IOW, Dorset and Wiltshire and runs 4 drop-in support centres and a range of outreach projects in hospitals and in the community. The charity is driven to evolve and grow in response to the needs of their service users. The challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic have proved how well they can achieve this.
Their new CEO joined in July 2020 and as they head towards their 40th birthday this year they are now planning how to use the knowledge and experience they have gained during COVID, to reach more people in more ways.
The Trust relies on voluntary income to fund its work, raising money through fundraising activities and via a trading subsidiary of charity shops. In 2019 it had a combined turnover of £1.9m.
The successful candidate will be part of a small and motivated team of around 14 people based at their Head Office, and a wider workforce of 50 - 60 people.
Reporting into the Marketing Manager, they are seeking a Marketing Executive to assist and implement the Charity`s marketing strategy to help create and promote multi-channel marketing activity to promote services, fundraising and retail, whilst ensuring the brand creative guideline is followed at all times, resulting in a one way, same way approach to all Trust communications.
Please note this position is offered on a 6 month ftc.


Key Features of the Role:

Project Management

• Be the Marketing lead on projects such as fundraising events and appeals, volunteer recruitment drives and public information campaigns, developing and implementing marketing plans, as agreed with line manager.

Digital Marketing

• Assist with activity that maximises income generated through digital products, platforms and services.

• Manage the website including regular updates to content and functionality, ensuring search engine marketing is optimised to achieve full potential.
• Devise and implement plans to increase newsletter sign ups.
• Oversee the Charity`s social media policy, keeping up to date with social media best practices and trends, develop and manage their social media content calendar.
• Engage with and manage the Trust social media community across all platforms.
• Work with the fundraising team to identify and implement new digital fundraising opportunities.
• Develop content for social media and other digital platforms including display screens in Centres and Shops.

Design and print/publish

• Ensure consistency of the Charity`s brand tone of voice and brand aesthetic across all Trust communications.
• Manage the design and production of modern, engaging marketing material using external suppliers, ensuring work is completed in time and on budget.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
• Be a confident digital marketer with the ability to help build complex integrated campaigns across multiple platforms.
• Possess up to date knowledge of current digital marketing techniques e.g paid and organic social media, audience targeting, email, database segmentation, mobile, advertising, paid search, SMS.
• Creative with the ability to come up with new ideas and stories.
• Experience of analysing results across digital channels and reporting back to key stakeholders in a concise format.
• Good working knowledge of analytics on Facebook Ads and Business Manager, Google Analytics and all other platform reporting tools.
• Ability to prioritise work and manage multiple projects at once.
• Patient and resilient nature, and happy to work as part of a team and with the wider organisation.
• Experience of delivering digital campaigns in a third sector environment.
• Ability to confidently use Adobe Illustrator & Adobe InDesign.

What`s on Offer?
With the impact of Covid, this year will be crucial for Wessex Cancer Trust. This is an important role within the charity, supporting the Charity`s Marketing Manager.
Salary will be in a range of £20k - 24k depending upon skill set and experience together with contributory pension scheme, 25 days holiday, free parking, cycle to work scheme, employee counselling helpline, mental health first aiders and a personal development programme.
The position is full time 37.5 hours per week but on a 6 month ftc.
