Description :
A Live-in Couple is required for an early April start at an estate in Argyll. One person will be taken on as a Caretaker/Handyman covering the main house and grounds while the other person is a Housekeeper covering the private apartments and tending to the family when in residence. It’s essential that the Live-in Couple is adaptable and flexible while also exercising privacy and discretion when it comes to the family and their guests. It’s desirable that the Caretaker/Handyman have basic DIY skills and a knowledge of site security while the Housekeeper have knowledge of the care of care of antiques, art work and fine furnishings.
Applications from suitably experienced ex-military personnel (British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy or Royal Marines) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Caretaker-Handyman
- Some internal and external maintenance, repairs and painting etc.
- Attending to fires, heating system and alarms
- General site security - Taking appropriate action in the main building in the event of an emergency, fire/security officer
- Some driving and light maintenance of vehicles
- Routine inspections of buildings and grounds (carpark/tearoom/garden)
- A good Health & Safety knowledge, including an ability to work safely at height
- Winter/Spring cleaning
- Occasional butler duties
- Helping at Castle functions
Housekeeper
- Maintaining private apartments in pristine condition at all times
- Laundry pertaining to family and private side
- Cleaning of silver & brasses
- Care of antiques, art work and fine furnishings
- Cleaning of two holiday cottages
- Helping at Family and Castle events
Desirable Knowledge/Experience/Skills
Caretaker-Handyman
- Basic DIY skills
- Knowledge of site security (emergency procedures, fire alarms, etc)
- Basic vehicle maintenance
Housekeeper
- Experience with care of antiques, art work and fine furnishings
Hours:
- Wednesday to Sunday – 08:00 to 17:00 (18:00 in busy summer months)
