Job Details
A social enterprise that provides transport services to multiple locations across the UK is seeking Bus Drivers based in London to provide good customer service and a safe and comfortable journey throughout the network of bus services. Ideally the Bus Driver will have previous experience driving PCVs but specific type and route training is provided for people with excellent driving ability.
Applications from suitably experienced ex-military personnel (British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy or Royal Marines) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Role Accountabilities
- Check condition of the vehicle prior to commencing service
- Comply with laws and company regulations regarding the use of mobile phones, smoking and prohibited equipment whilst on duty
- Be responsible for health, safety, security, welfare, environmental and fire safety arrangements for yourself, customers, and colleagues.
- Provide a high standard of customer service at all times
- Assistant with additional needs of vulnerable adults, elderly, and children
- Keep up to date with road closures, diversion, special events which may affect bus services
- Ensure valid licence is held at all times and in date
- Report all safety, security, driving and customer service incidents to the line manager as soon as possible
- Attend training as required
- Undertake any reasonable request made by the Company
Person Specification
Essential:
- Valid current PCV, class D, Drivers Licence and DCPC qualification card
- Minimum GCSE qualifications
- Good verbal and written communication skills and basic numeracy
- Proven eligibility to work in the UK
- Able to provide suitable references
- Prepared to undertake training such as NVQs
- Excellent customer service
- Ability to drive a vehicle to a competent and safe standard
- Calm under pressure
- Honesty/integrity
- Has physical capability to carry out role
- Ability to pass medical, alcohol and drugs screening as per policy
Desirable:
- Professional driving experience
- Has received 7 hours of DCPC training each year
- Knowledge of geographical area
- Advanced Driver training Certificate
- Bus industry knowledge and an appreciation of bus regulations
Salary:
£9.50 - £15.69 (depending on shifts and route) + overtime
