Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Salary: £35,000 (DoE)

Location: Surrey

A leading, nationwide provider of high quality, perimeter and security solutions requires a Field Service Engineer to enable their continued expansion. The Field Service Engineer will install, maintain, service and repair a range of rising bollard solutions, blockers, barriers and gate automation systems, primarily at sites in the UK. If you have electro-mechanical or hydraulics experience and are prepared for extensive UK travel, including occasional nights away from home, then this is an ideal opportunity to join an established company.

 Applications from ex-military personnel (British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and Royal Marines) are strongly encouraged.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, service, maintain and repair security barriers, gates, bollards blockers and turnstiles 
  • Identify and rectify faults on equipment including, wiring, PCB’s, motors, pumps, valves, hydraulic hoses, chains and belts
  • Install new components to ensure that machinery is working safely and efficiently
  • Advise customers on best possible solutions to ensure that machinery is working safely
  • Provide accurate service documentation for site visits
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety regulations
  • Maintain an awareness of company Quality Assurance requirements
  • You must be flexible as you will be required to be on call on a rota with the rest of the team

Knowledge, skills and qualifications - essential:

  • CSCS or similar
  • DHF Gate Safety accreditation or equivalent
  • Proven fault finding and problem solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams
  • Good working knowledge of electro-mechanical engineering systems
  • Hold or working towards a relevant engineering qualification
  • Competent to work on own initiative in potentially pressurised environments
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Flexible approach – willing to be part of an on call rota
  • Full clean driving licence.

Knowledge, skills and qualifications - desirable:

  • 17th/18th Edition
  • City and Guilds or NVQ level relevant qualification
  • CSCS card or equivalent, testing and commissioning qualification
    • Experience working with Hydraulic and electrical equipment, manufacturers such as Heald, Frontier Pitts, Cova, Eagle Automation, APT, BFT, FAAC and other automation equipment.

Person Specification:

You must be hardworking, able to work on own initiative, committed to meeting deadlines and willing to undertake full security clearance. You will be a team player who is willing to be included within a callout rota. You must be comfortable working as part of an operational team that maintains a high standard of customer satisfaction.
