The Company and the Role:
The Company provides Construction, Architecture and Maintenance Services and is
located on an idyllic island in The Caribbean.
They design and create buildings for the Community, Government and Hotel and Resorts sectors.
They are now seeking a Power Plant Mechanic. This is a permanent role.
Reporting into the Utilities Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the generation of electricity at the main Power Plant.
Key Features of the Role:
- Prepare the monthly timetable for the operators and organize the shifts.
- Supervise the operators in the completion of their daily tasks.
- Schedule the working hours of the generators.
- Ensure the stock of critical spare parts.
- Control of the generation data, electrical consumptions, and performance of the engines.
- Schedule and organise the services of the engines.
- Repair and supervise the repairs.
- Troubleshoot issues with generator and switchgear identifying and executing solutions, as necessary.
- Schedule and organise the overhauls
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Be an accomplished Power Plant Mechanic, ideally possessing a BSc. in Electrical Engineering
- Significant experience in electrical utilities /power generation
- Must be a holder of a valid electrical licence.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence
- CVQ and TVET Certification will be an asset
- Demonstrable skills in leading and able to train and coach local workforce
- Excellent communicator skills (Verbal and Written)
- Willing to work flexible hours
- Proactive, hands-on approach
- Ability to work in a remote location with limited resources
- Excellent IT/ pc and decision-making skills
What’s on Offer?
The basic salary is paid in USD and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition, there is an annual bonus which is also paid in USD and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. A company vehicle is also provided along with a laptop and a mobile phone.
Free accommodation is provided along with all utility bills paid.
Holiday entitlement is 20 days per year, local transport, medical insurance and sick pay are also provided.
In addition, all Ex-Pat employees will receive 1 paid return economy flight per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by the Company.
