The Company and the Role:
The Company provides Construction, Architecture and Maintenance Services and is
located on an idyllic island in The Caribbean.
They design and create buildings for the Community, Government and Hotel and Resorts sectors.
They are now seeking a Vehicle Workshop Manager. This is a permanent role.
Reporting into the Utilities Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, co-ordinating and controlling the repairs and maintenance of all Company vehicles and heavy equipment in a timely and cost effective manner.
Key Features of the Role:
- Organise the department’s structure, procedures, and daily activities in order to improve productivity and minimize disruptions.
- Plan, monitor, and control all activities and duties performed by the Workshop, ensuring that the highest standards are achieved and maintained.
- Performs and co-ordinates trouble shooting and diagnostics procedures on all company vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Monitors use of spare parts and define stock levels, department costs and revenues.
- Monitor workflow in anticipation of delays, interruptions or changes in diagnostics procedures and develop appropriate course of action.
- Conduct incoming and outgoing inspections and or tests for all vehicles prior to repair job and release.
- Plan and organize periodic preventative maintenance checks of all vehicles and equipment and record findings during assessments and decide on appropriate action to be taken.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Be an accomplished Vehicle Workshop Manager ideally with Certifications Vehicle/Automobile Mechanics
- Previous experience in leading a workshop team
- Possess in depth knowledge in Vehicle Maintenance procedures.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence
- Demonstrable skills in leading and able to train and coach local workforce
- Excellent communicator skills (Verbal and Written)
- Good IT / PC skills, able to use MS Office
- Proactive, hands-on approach
- Ability to work in a remote location with limited resources
What’s on Offer?
The basic salary is paid in USD and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition, there is an annual bonus which is also paid in USD and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. A company vehicle and a mobile phone.
Free accommodation is provided along with all utility bills paid.
Holiday entitlement is 20 days per year, laundry, local transport, medical insurance and sick pay are also provided.
In addition, all Ex-Pat employees will receive 1 paid return economy flight per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by the Company. A relocation allowance is also payable.
