The Company and the Role:

The business is independently owned and only opened since 12th April and was viewed as a success with its 10 outside tables regularly occupied from 10am when it opens until close.

Now operating with inside and outside dining the Directors have recognised the need for an accomplished General Manager to build on its current success and put procedures in place, so the service is second to none and customers go away delighted.

The establishment has a brunch menu, lunch menu and evening menu is tapas based.

Key Features of the Role:

  • The Company takes great pride in the quality of the local fresh food and the great drinks they serve, the diversity and knowledge of their food, drinks and cocktail menu`s and the attentive, passionate and friendly staff they employ all adds to the guests experience and expectations.
  • You will be the figure head and driving force for this establishment, making sure that standards are at their highest and that all staff are fully trained and supported for their day to day role, aware of brand values and offering excellent customer service.
  • Responsible for recruitment, health and safety, venue maintenance, training, coaching, staff development, assisting with venue marketing and advertising, P&L and working to company budgets etc.
  • Working a minimum 5 days a week, utilising the strengths of your team to run a smooth operation, which will have slight seasonal highs and lows, so managing staff and guest expectations during these seasonal changes is a key part of the role.
  • As General Manager you will work closely with the kitchen to make sure that they can manage with food orders, as staggering might be required during busy periods, the venue will be serving good food 7 days per week, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creativity and ownership are essential for the right person, and you will receive support from the business, as and when you require it, working with the business owners to negotiate costs and to review potential returns on investment to the business.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • You should have prior experience as a General Manager working in a casual dining venue, although our client will consider applicants who have substantial experience as a Deputy or Assistant Manager looking for their first GM role.
  • You should have experience in FOH and BOH team management, with a team of at least 10 staff.
  • Your practical experience should ideally be supported by some form of catering and hospitality qualification.
  • You should have a passion for staff training and development, promoting brand values and high levels of customer service standards in a fun but challenging environment.
  • You must be emotionally robust and someone who can thrive under pressure in a busy environment, as plans and cover numbers can change without warning, so someone who is prepared and who can think on their feet is an ideal match.
  • You will be an excellent team player who can respectfully communicate to the team.
  • You must have your own transport to get to interview and every day for work.
  • You must be able to lead, train and mentor, and have done this in your most recent career.
  • You will need to be a personal license holder.

What`s on Offer?

Basic salary will be around £30-32k and will be influenced by your knowledge and experience.

There will be a bonus scheme available after you have completed 6 months service.

Tips will be shared weekly.

28 days holiday including bank and public holidays, meals on duty plus staff discount scheme.

Working 5 days out of 7 but with hours dependent upon business needs.
