The Company and the Role:
The Company provides Construction, Architecture and Maintenance Services and is located on an idyllic island in The Caribbean.
They design and create buildings for the Community, Government and Hotel and Resorts sectors.
They are now seeking a Power Plant Operator. This is a permanent role.
Reporting into the Utilities Manager, you will be responsible for the operations portion of power plants. You will monitor and operate process control equipment, including valving, packaging, and engineering and will interpret and adhere to plant procedures.
Key Features of the Role:
- Responsible for the safe and proper operation of a power plant, switchyard and associated control structures.
- Using local automatic/manual modes of operation, start, stop, synchronize and regulate power and reactive loads on turbine-generators.
- You will issue clearances and perform switching and clearing of generator, transmission lines and station service switchgear.
- Maintain power-plant operating log and prepare power generation and transmission equipment operating reports.
- Prepare equipment malfunction report, make inspections and from observation, determine whether equipment is operating properly.
- Operate power plant auxiliary systems such as HVAC systems, lighting systems, telephone and radio communication systems, station battery, etc.
- Receive outage calls and call-in necessary personnel during power outages and emergencies.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- You will be an accomplished Power Plant Operator ideally with an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in the sciences preferably electrical or chemical sciences
- Experience in electrical utilities /power generation
- Must have highly developed observation skills to anticipate and detect operational anomalies
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work with a team, as well as verbal and written communication skills in English
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Willing to work flexible hours
- Proactive, hands-on approach
- Ability to work in a remote location with limited resources
What’s on Offer?
The basic salary is paid in USD and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
Free accommodation is provided along with all utility bills paid. Free meals in the staff canteen.
Holiday entitlement is 20 days per year, laundry and medical insurance are also provided.
In addition, all Ex-Pat employees will receive 1 paid return economy flight per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by the Company. A relocation allowance is also payable.
