The Company and the Role:

Wessex Cancer Trust is a medium-sized charity which offers support to people affected by cancer, their families and friends. The charity operates in Hampshire, IOW, Dorset and Wiltshire and runs 4 drop-in support centres and a range of outreach projects in hospitals and in the community. The charity is driven to evolve and grow in response to the needs of their service users. The challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic have proved how well they can achieve this.
Their new CEO joined in July 2020 and as they head towards their 40th birthday this year they are now planning how to use the knowledge and experience they have gained during COVID, to reach more people in more ways.
The Trust relies on voluntary income to fund its work, raising money through fundraising activities and via a trading subsidiary of charity shops. In 2019 it had a combined turnover of £1.9m.
The successful candidate will be part of a small and motivated team of around 14 people based at their Head Office, and a wider workforce of 50 - 60 people.
They are now seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Part Time Retail Shop Manager, to provide shop manager cover at the charity`s 4 Hampshire charity shops on the Shop Manager`s day off/other absences.
The shops are located in Chandlers Ford, Winchester, Hythe and Portchester.
Taking ownership of the store on those days with overall responsibility for the team and volunteers, you will work to set targets, objectives and KPIs. The position is for 30 hours per week, spread over 4 days a week. One day in each shop unless agreed otherwise.
Key Features of the Role:

• Work with the team to achieve shop and online sales, gift aid targets and all other KPIs
• Ensure that team members are trained in pricing, sorting, and replenishing stock, and are able to produce excellent displays in store. Manage these activities, assisting where necessary.
• Maintain excellent displays in store and in the windows and make sure that appropriate levels of stock are on display in store and that stock is rotated and replenished when necessary.
• Focus on excellent customer service and upselling.
• Maintain exceptional standards in housekeeping, cleanliness and tidiness; keeping back areas free of clutter and tidy.
• Where needed, ensure weekly and monthly receipts are collated, together with records of sales and forwarded to the Finance Team.
• Representing the charity getting involved in the community, local marketing and events.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
• Be an experienced retail Shop Manager or Supervisor ideally with retail experience within the charity/retail sector
• Have an understanding or direct experience of working with volunteers.
• Experience of cash handling and financial management.
• Knowledge of gift aid processes and experience of increasing gift aid sign-ups
• Ability to drive sales and make decisions to impact challenging trading days positively.
• Have good IT skills with knowledge of MS Word/Excel.
• A flexible approach to working rota which will include Saturday`s and/or possibly Sundays
• Empathy with the Charity`s aims and values, including an understanding of and commitment to equality and diversity.
• A full clean driving license and/or access to suitable transport is required for the role.

Travelling expenses are claimable on journeys in excess of the normal working pattern.
