The Company and the Role:

An International Peacekeeping Force operates in the Sinai. As part of its role it maintains two military camps one in the North close to the Mediterranean coast and one in the South in Sharm El Sheikh.

They are currently seeking a Director of Personnel and Services to be based at Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

The position is offered on a 2-year contract, renewable with accompanied status.

The Director Of Personnel and Services (DPS) is the head of the Force Personnel and Services Branch.  The DPS holds the Senior Human Resources position with direct responsibility for the military and civilian members assigned to the Force. The DPS is the Force Commander`s Principal Staff Officer and Advisor in all personnel-related matters. 

Key Features of the Role:

The Director of Personnel and Services has the direct responsibility for the military and civilian members and advisor in all personnel-related matters and is the senior civilian and thus is the Civilian Contingent Commander for all civilians.

Supervise personnel management for 125 civilians and 1100 military and has co-ordinating activities for the 500 contractor personnel and manage 5 direct reports.

Supervise all retail operations and morale welfare support programmes.

Plan, co-ordinates, supervises and reports on all personnel-related activities.

Develop an organisational staffing structure through co-ordination with Commanders and Branch Heads based upon a need`s assessment and functional analysis.

Supervises budget line managers within the Personnel and Services Branch in the forecasting and execution of budgets.

 

Assist supervisors with identification of personnel requirements, recruitment needs and selection criteria for recruitment and coordinate recruitment strategy with the Personnel Manager.

Review applications and may interview and recommend candidates to hire.

Occasional visits will be required to the North Camp as and when required which may be a few days per month.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Ideally have a degree in HR / Personnel Management and a Master`s is preferred as is SAP level 2 in the HR Module

Ideally hold CIPD membership at least Member level.

Ideally have experience in Retail and Moral Welfare.

Experienced negotiator and/or mediator in situations involving labour relations and employee grievances.

Skilled in developing and implementing recruitment and employee evaluation policies and strong influencing and strategic planning skills.

Experience of working in a military environment as a Director of Personnel and Services or for an international facilities management services provider and other similar organisations would be ideal, as would experience of working in remote sites or in other arduous environments

You should be a confident communicator with the ability to supervise, motivate, coach, and train a team of mixed nationals and possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally be able to speak some Arabic or Spanish but this is not essential.

Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities, and religions.

Resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.

What`s on Offer?

Salary guide is £112,000 per annum depending upon your experience and skill set and is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Included in the basic salary is a 20% location allowance payable and also a 7% allowance in lieu of a pension scheme, both of which are tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.

A 2 year accompanied status (1 adult) contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, life assurance, health insurance and meals. In addition, employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.

The holiday entitlement is 30 days plus 12 public holidays
