Location         Salisbury

Salary             £33,000 - £38,000 DOE + benefits. 28 hour / 4 day week

Job Type        Permanent

 

A Plant Operation & Maintenance Engineer is required to provide the day to day operation and maintenance of a small utilities plant in the Salisbury Area.

 

The Plant Operation & Maintenance Engineer will be provided with training, where required.

 

Flexible working hours with 28 Hour Week / 4 Day week.

 

Applications from suitably experienced ex-military personnel (British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy or Royal Marines) are strongly encouraged to apply

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance work involves fault finding, identifying leaks, replacing steam traps, seals on vessels, replace seals / diaphragms should a leak develop on a Manual or Actuated Valve.

  • The running of plant is autonomous via a SCADA system. Steam, Pneumatic air, Chilled water & Electrical Supply is provided as a service to the plant.

  • Manual intervention is required to restart the plant due to a service outage.

  • The day to day Preventive Maintenance tasks are assigned via Job sheets.

  • Managing of specialist contractors during their service + assisting with calibration, diaphragm change for valves.

 

Skillset:

  • Mechanical skills at a hands on and hopefully diagnostic level.
  • Low voltage electrical skills at a hands on and hopefully diagnostics level.
  • Able to follow Electrical Drawing / Loop diagrams and diagnose faults
  • Able to follow P&ID drawings and diagnose faults
  • Process plant operation expertise and knowledge involving flow, pressure, temperature, and level measurement and control.
  • Any knowledge of steam plant an advantage.
  • The plant has undergone an upgrade in the past year and continuous improvement is an on-going task.

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • Would potentially suit ex Forces technicians or particularly marine engineers, possibly semi-retired
  • Mechanical or electrical craftspeople with some experience in process plant or utilities (heating, cooling, steam).
  • Process plant operator.
  • Self-starter comfortable with lone working / working with light supervision.
  • Someone with initiative to activity contribute to the continuous improvement programme.
  • Capable of sourcing and securing basic supplies as required for the plant.
