A little more about the role:
As our Computing Skills Lecturer you will work closely with our Higher Education students either in small groups or individually to ensure their learning is at the required level and to support learning requirements as necessary to keep the students on track. Some students may require your additional support for many reasons whether that be personal, language or academic skills development. Your patience, experience and time will be essential to their success
What you will get up to:
Plan, prepare, teach/deliver computing skills support sessions for small groups and on a one-to-one basis to guide students learning on a range of programmes and related computing areas
Develop and deliver computing-related workshops (face-to-face and online) Create and develop learner (self-study) materials to enhance student understanding and success (face-to-face and online) Support students in using MS Office tools, such as word, ppt, excel, etc.
Support students with problem-solving Provide pastoral care and support (as a Personal Tutor) Keep accurate tutorial records and maintain the different partnership VLEs
What you will bring to the team:
MSc Computer Science or related degree in computing and software engineering HEA status or demonstrate teaching experience with a commitment to achieving the required Professional Standards for teaching. Practical Knowledge of programming languages (at least two or more of the following programming languages: Java, C++, Visual Basic, HTML5, CSS, Java script, PHP, SQL, Mobile Development using Android studio); Knowledge of computer networks; Knowledge of mathematics for computing; Lab-demonstrator experience would be preferred Flexibility and willingness to work under pressure and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
