Description :

A Production Shift Manager is needed to join a large production team at a long-established construction manufacturer outside Norwich. Planning and agreeing production schedules with the Operations Manager, the Production Shift Manager will then manage the day-to-day production in the most cost effective and efficient manner in this fast moving and expanding operation. Previous experience in managing shifts in a manufacturing / production environment is essential. Strong leadership skills and people management are also a necessity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring an efficient production operation which is able to fulfil operational and customer demand
  • Overseeing the production process including planning production schedules to meet customer orders in liaison with Operations Manager, Sales and Transport
  • Strategically manage production in compliance with company policies, procedures and vision
  • Drive a zero-tolerance mind set for deviation from the use of quality processes to ensure customer deliverables are fully met and waste is reduced
  • In liaison with Operations Manager, identify opportunities to ensure efficient space utilisation and production flow
  • In liaison with Operations Manager plan future capacity requirements and constraints, building a planning and scheduling process to maintain OTIF, while managing labour costs through planning work rota’s, assigning employees according to production needs, analysing results for continuous improvement
  • Ensuring stocks are managed, in liaison with Materials Manager, using stock control systems for Material Requirements Planning to maintain adequate levels of raw materials
  • Managing health, safety and wellbeing to the highest standards, reducing or eliminating hazards, ensuring best practice and safe systems of work are operated, high standards of housekeeping are maintained, etc. in liaison with H&S Manager
  • Managing all employee relations issues in compliance with HR Policies and Procedures, including monitoring and effective management of attendance, disciplinary, grievances, etc. in liaison with HR Manager

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience of managing shifts in a manufacturing / production environment that includes managing supervisors and managing production KPIs
  • Strong people management and leadership skills, with the demonstrable ability to coach, mentor and give direction effectively
  • The successful candidate will relish working in a high pace and changing environment where you will identify skills gaps, risks and improvement opportunities, and have the confidence, ability and drive to recommend and implement change effectively

Qualifications

  • Certification in management is desirable

Desirable

  • Experience of lean principles and techniques is highly advantageous
  • Experience gained in the fenestration sector is advantageous

Salary and package details

  • £30,000 to £32,000 pa DOE + OT
  • Rotation shifts: (07.00-15.00 / 15.00-23.00)
  • Performance-related bonus
