This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Import Clerk to become a key member of a growing import, logistics and customs clearance company. The Import Clerk manages all aspects of the supply and logistics from checking origin dispatch through to customs clearance, regulatory completion and liaising with final mile delivery partners. This is a dynamic company with the possibility for development and growth in a fast changing and stimulating environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaising with HMRC and Border Force, developing experience of the customs clearance and changes to systems
- Responsibility for Customs entries and clearances in a timely and efficient manner
- Managing customer outcomes based on the SOP’s in place and maintaining SOP in line with AEO (Authorised Economic Operator requirements
- Monitoring customer pre-alerts in ORION or via email and advising exceptions
- Ensuring client documents and manifests are correct and communicating exceptions
- Advising warehouse operations of completed clearances and / or exceptions as quickly as possible
- Liaising with all parties relative to the retrieval of freight to the ETSF
- Arranging airline collections with logistics providers ensuring best value and efficiency on a day to day basis
- Where necessary, arranging vendor collections, deliveries
- Operating in the ORION system for all client administration and communication including pre-alerts, tracking milestones and shipment updates
- Ensure that all VAT and Duty payments and records are maintained and that FAS and deferment accounts are reported as required
- Monitoring DDU collection and reporting and that VAT and fees are properly and consistently accounted for
Knowledge, skills and qualifications - essential:
- Experience of using either ASM SEQUOIA for CHIEF/CDS and NCTS
- Experience of using ORION
- Excellent customer focussed outlook
- Good IT skills including MS Excel
- Great communication skills
Knowledge, skills and qualifications - desirable:
- Experience in logistics, air transportation or compliance
- Capable of working with senior management team including the Managing Director and Finance Director
