Description :

Reporting to the Technical Manager the successful candidate will be working across two core areas of the business focussed around CAD.

Applications from suitably qualified ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Marines) will relevant for this position but other qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The CAD Engineer will be working across two core areas of the business, these areas being:

Building layout schematics

Assist the central engineering and quotation teams in supporting our customers with planning lighting control architecture using relevant 2D CAD building drawings for each project

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Take customers CAD drawings and overlay company kit into the drawing for use by installers and contractors
  • From plan drawings performs take offs, DB’s layout and field devices, for data base production or for sales estimation, collating using Excel
  • Ensuring that the correct quantity of company products and third-party luminaires match with quotes and customer specifications
  • Design and add layers to customer’s drawings using AutoCAD to show system control information, cable runs, field device type and position, control zones and DB zones.
  • Issue RFIs if problems found on drawings electrical circuits exceed limits, length or wattage etc.
  • Liaise with customers and contractors to get RFIs answered.
  • Keeping all drawings and relevant data updated and filed correctly for each project

Product Development

Assist in the design, engineering and development of products, predominantly using 3D CAD (Inventor) and will enjoy producing high standard solutions and specifications that reflect the design intent and manufacturing information required to construct products.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Work on product development and value engineering projects for both new and existing ranges of products
  • Identify product improvements to reduce costs and processes

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Ability to work alone as well as in a team and exercise own initiative.
  • Minimum 3 years CAD experience in similar role
  • Fluent English language both verbal and written, excellent communicator at all levels.
  • Numerate, with Strong MS Office.
