Description :
A successful and growing family-owned farm near Stafford is seeking an Irrigation Operative to be responsible for their produce irrigation systems. No direct experience is required, but they are looking for proven experience in team work and independent environments, a strong work ethic and an interest in growing crops. The Operative will be using the latest fertigation and monitoring systems, utilising substrate and soil mediums daily; outdoors. You must be interested in Horticulture and have a keen to learn approach. It would be ideal for the Irrigation Operative to be physically fit as heavy lifting and repair will occur during the job. Training and career progression available for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ability to understand instructions on fertigation for plant growth
- To feed liquid fertiliser to strawberry and raspberry plants
- To ensure fertiliser records are correctly, promptly and accurately completed
- Use of computer and hand-held devices supplied
- Install & fix irrigation pipes, pumps and connections
- Understanding biological control and application
- Observe plants health e.g. foliar, soil and make decisions on feeding regimes to be used
- Mix feeds and ability to inform management where changes need to be made
- Transportation of liquid fertilizer
- Observation on irrigation data as required, and remove unnecessary field water usage through trickle irrigation
- Understand and operate irrigation systems under the farms’ abstraction license
- Potentially fix and install plumbing systems in two caravan sites owned by the farm
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Minimum GCSE qualifications
- Able to work with own initiative and with a team
- Be computer literate and have good numeracy
- Be physically fit
- UK driving licence including category B
- Flexible attitude to the working week and be able to work anti-social working hours when necessary especially during the Summer months
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- B Class Driving licence required
Desirable:
- ATV licence
- Previous plumbing experience
- Loadall Experience
