The Company and the Role:
The Company has been operating for over 40 years and they: supply, install, commission and maintain both digital and analogue radio communication systems. They are one of the UK`s leading independent radio distributors.
Having achieved unrivalled growth in the commercial sectors, they also supply radio equipment to the UK Fire and Rescue services plus supply and maintain equipment committed to the Ministry of Defence in: Germany, Gibraltar and Cyprus.
Reporting to the Sales Director, the Engineering Manager will have responsibility for the day to day management of the Company`s engineering commitments. The engineering department consists of approximately a dozen members of staff, including a few senior project engineers.
The requirement is to have a, knowledgeable, focal point who will be able to direct proceedings, at a strategic level, using the available assets. Stand back a see the bigger picture, so that various projects can run simultaneously; a classic engineering Chief of Staff (CoS) / Program Manager`s position.
Key Features of the Role:
You must be able to run multiple programmes, manage technical teams with different requirements whilst supporting other departments, such as Sales with their tenders, whilst maintaining a strategic approach.
Be able to plan and direct technical project managers plus brief the Board.
Understand radio communications so that you are able to review and co-ordinate projects whilst optimising assets in order to co-ordinate and complete the flow of projects, in time, and to requirement.
Must be able to manage a number of technical team leaders and report progress regularly to the Board.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience of a Chief of Staff or Programme Manager`s role
Commercial experience
Senior Management experience
Experience with: RF installation; PMR / DMR products; IP networking experience and fault finding across a multitude of telecommunication platforms
What`s on Offer:
Basic salary is £50-60k per annum depending upon experience.
Other benefits include 21 days paid holiday rising to 25 accruing from length of service plus bank and public holidays, life assurance of 4 times basic salary, compulsory pension provision etc.
