A bus company in Norfolk is looking for an HGV/PSV Mechanic to join their growing maintenance department. Our client provides transportation solutions for customers all over Norfolk. An HGV/PSV Mechanic will be responsible for routine inspection/maintenance and fault finding of company vehicles. There is a supervisory element to his role where you will be in charge of a small team in the absence of the team leader.

Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for routine inspection/maintenance and fault finding of company vehicles in accordance with established company procedure and VOSA requirements
- Undertake mechanical, electrical and some minor body repair
- Road test on completion of repair
- Work in accordance with safe working practices as stated in company’s Health and Safety policy and procedures
When operating as Working Charge Hand additional responsibilities will include
- To ensure that all vehicles provided for operation comply with the standards set by the company and VOSA
- Supervise staff and contractors to ensure that vehicle presentation is maintained and that vehicles meet the standards required by VOSA
- To ensure that all engineering staff/contractors comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act
- Train/mentor apprentices and new recruits
Person Specification:
Knowledge:
- An understanding of mechanical engineering and vehicle maintenance procedures for a wide range of vehicles operated by the garage.
- An understanding of Health and Safety legislation and practices
- An understanding of the standards required by VOSA, TfL and the Department of Transport
- Basic automotive electrics and bus bodywork
Essential Skills:
- Working independently in all aspects of maintenance is a must
- Communicate at all levels within the company structure
- Experience with fault finding/diagnostic software
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with ACTIA diagnostic/fault-finding software package
Qualifications:
- NVQ level 3 HGV or PSV (essential)
- City and Guilds level 3 in electrical or mechanical (essential)
- CAT D licence (desirable - training provided)
- IRTEC Qualification (desirable - training provided)
Salary/Benefits:
- Circa £31,000 (set per hour salary)
