The Company and the Role:
The company is the International Peacekeeping Force which operates in the Sinai. As part of its role it maintains two military camps one in the North close to the Mediterranean coast and one in the South near Sharm El Sheikh.
They are currently seeking a Project Estimator / Planner to be based in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
The position is offered on a 2-year contract, renewable.
Key Features of the Role:
Provide assessments of all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations covering option appraisal, feasibility, costs, design and risk to the final figures.
Work with Project Management staff to minimize the cost of projects and enhance value for money, while maintaining the required construction, quality and health and safety standards.
Prepare estimates and costs for projects at the inception, when the project is in progress, and work with the Contract Office to resolve any claims issues.
Maintain financial reports to show planned versus actual costs, contingency funding requirements and make recommendations for project `variation` allowances prior to contract award.
Minimize the cost of projects and enhance value for money, while maintaining the required construction, quality and health and safety standards.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
You should be an accomplished Project Planner / Estimator ideally possessing a degree in construction and or membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Pre-contract experience in appraisals, feasibility, costing, design, risk, program and planning
Project Estimator / Planner experience in estimating, cost analysis and the formulation of bills of quantity/materials from drawings.
Experienced in the preparation of a Statement of works (SOW), pre- tender estimates and assist in the technical evaluation of tenders.
Familiar with project budgets and project management principles and excellent organisational, presentation and time management skills
Proficient in computing software such as SAP, Microsoft Office; Excel, Word and Project and a working knowledge of AutoCAD.
Experience of working in a military environment for an international facilities management services provider and other similar organisations would be ideal, as would experience of working in remote sites or in other arduous environments.
Possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally be able to speak some Arabic, or Spanish.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
Resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally, you should possess a driver`s licence.
What`s on Offer?
Salary guide is £57,000 per annum depending upon your experience and skill set and is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Included in the basic salary is a 20% location allowance payable and also a 7% allowance in lieu of a pension scheme, both of which are tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
A 2 year unaccompanied status contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, life assurance, health insurance and meals. In addition, employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
The holiday entitlement is 28 days plus 12 public holidays
