The Company and the Role:
The company is a major Steel Fabrication, Engineering and Construction company involved in Structural Steel Fabrication, Bridging, Motor Transport Engineering, Building and Construction works.
Current contracts are in mining, government and private business ventures.
They are seeking a Senior Steel Fabrication Estimator to be based in Papua New Guinea. The position is offered on a 3 year renewable contract.
Key Features of the Role:
As a Senior Steel Fabrication Estimator your key responsibilities will include estimating, contracts, tendering and monitoring of small to large scale steel fabrication projects for clients within the steel fabrication division of the company.
Leading and assisting the fabrication team in the refurbishment of tanks, hoppers and chutes, conveyors, pip spooling, bridges, decking, replacement baily bridge parts, transport trailers, buckets and minor works.
Training other Estimators in the division and offer support to the production team.
Market research into steel fabrication processes and preparations of costs for structural steel designs and drawings will also be part of the remit of the Senior Estimator.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Ideally an accomplished Estimator with a Degree in Building, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and experience in similar roles within fabrication and construction industries.
Experienced in estimating of structural steel, steel tanks, steel bridges, small to large scale general steel fabrication and a good understanding on interpreting structural and mechanical drawings.
Familiar with project budgets and project management principles and excellent organisational, presentation and time management skills
Proficient in computing software such as Microsoft Office; Excel, Word and Project and a basic understanding of AutoCAD, Navisworks and Tekla.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
Resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally, you should possess a driver’s licence.
What’s on Offer?
£82k – 96k per annum is offered depending upon your experience and skill set and is paid in Australian Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
A 3 year contract is offered which includes free accommodation, vehicle, life assurance and health insurance. In addition, employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
The holiday entitlement is 5 weeks with 2 free flights per annum back to your home base.
