Description :

A leading independent removal company established for over 140 years is seeking a number of Porters to be responsible for carrying out a range of removals services, at customers’ homes, corporate clients business premises or residential addresses moving to new premises or into storage. Good team work is required and has excellent customer service skills in order to meet with customer/client service agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out packing of items using appropriate methods and techniques
  • Wrap and pack delicate items, such as china, glass, artwork, antiques etc.
  • Dismantle and reassemble furniture and other items as necessary
  • Manoeuvre furniture and effects in a safe manner
  • Load and unload vehicles utilising the space effectively and ensuring safe loading and unloading techniques
  • Conduct office removals including the dismantling of business equipment
  • Liaise with relevant people to gain understanding of the job tasks required at start of each job, timescales involved, specific packing and removals requirements, and special items
  • Escalate any issues or concerns raised by the customer
  • Provide detailed feedback to the Health & Safety & Quality Manager on any issues affecting Health & Safety or Quality
  • Contribute to close working relationships with all personnel and to help to build an open and honest culture that facilitates learning, quality and excellence.
  • As required, co-ordinating small to medium size teams of crew at residence, directing, guiding and delegating activities, feeding back issues to the Branch Coordinator/Operations Manager or other members of the team as necessary
  • Effectively communicating to ensure move plans are executed on time and to required service standards
  • Ensure a thorough understanding of written instructions contained in the Daily Work Instruction Sheet, including Signature Sheet and Inventory, at the start of each shift
  • Ensure that Health & Safety legislation including all related Company rules and policies are observed and adhered to, ensuring the health, safety & welfare of all stakeholders of the company
  • Conduct Risk Assessments and other H&S checks as necessary
  • Adhere to the Company uniform policy which includes wearing PPE and safety footwear at all times, in accordance with company policy, presenting a professional and smart appearance at all times
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and to comply with Company policy on handling confidential/ sensitive customer data and information

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Valid passport, although proof of application will be accepted if you are offered a position
  • Good team work
  • Be physically fit
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Hard-working
  • Able to work methodically

Desirable:

  • Experience in the Removals industry

Salary:

£19,908.78 - £22,248.79 during training, rising to £22,360 (after training), up to circa £24,500 (once promoted)
