The Company and the Role:
Amazing Tier 2 Network Support Engineer opportunity with an award-winning national Telecommunications business in Birstall, West Yorkshire.  This permanent role will have you working in a 24x7x365 cover team.
Reporting to the Network T2 Support Supervisor, you will provide trusted technical responses, fix to incidents, changes, service requests reported by customers, as well as performing 2nd line diagnostics to resolve or identify best possible escalation path.
While the role will primarily be Monday to Friday 9:00 till 17:30, the company operates a 24 x 7 x 365 cover via an `on call` rota, which you will be required to support.
Using your proven technical experience, diagnostics and administration skills across technical areas such as Cisco, Extreme and Huawei R&S, Cisco and Extreme management tools, Juniper and Extreme Firewalls, Wireless Tech: Meraki, Aruba, Cisco and Extreme, F5 Configuration and fault finding.
The role expects a passionate, yet flexible fault-finding mind set, linked with exceptional communication skills with internal and external stakeholders, providing genuine resolution, and ensuring tickets are managed and progressed correctly within SLAs.

Key Features:
As Tier 2 Network Support Engineer you will provide 2nd line support for technical services used by the Enterprise networking customer base, including incidents, changes and appropriate service requests within agreed SLAs.
Participate in Daytime based shift pattern across the network support T2 portfolio, covering all relevant technologies, and carrying out proactive maintenance to maximize availability including patching, Config backup and capacity management.
Participate in Change Management process, creating and updating CAB requests as appropriate and attending CAB meetings.
Establish effective high-quality working relationships with key parties, from internal stakeholders to external suppliers, and encouraging engagement.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
As a Tier 2 Network Support Engineer you will need have proven experience in configuration, troubleshooting and fault finding on:
Cisco Routing and Switching Platforms (ISR, ASR, Catalyst and Nexus) to T2 level.
Extreme Switching Platforms to a T2 level.
Cisco and Juniper Security Platforms including firewall configuration experience.
Cisco Wireless Platforms including Controllers and Access Points.

Technically Tier 2 Network Support Engineer must have knowledge and experience with:
CCNA - R&S with working experience on relative platform.
CCNP - SP or R&S or equivalent experience.
T2 Broadband Support including traffic shaping.
Network analytical tools such as Wireshark.
Troubleshooting ability on Extreme R&S, Meraki Solutions, F5 Configuration.
Cisco and Extreme management tools.

You must have a proven background of self-development and improvement, showing you have maintained your technical skills and upskilled other relevant new technologies, which could prove vitally important for the business and customers.
You must be able to ensure your customers are proactively updated verbally and via ticketing systems in line with system processes.
You will be able to work to ITIL standards and maintain proper documentation for operations.
Mandatory SC clearance or the ability to be SC cleared.

What`s on Offer?
Basic salary for a Tier 2 Network Support Engineer ranging up to £25,000 per annum, which will be assessed at interview and based on experience plus other contributing factors.
Core working hours 9:00 till 17:30 Monday to Friday, however there may well be some requirements to work outside of these hours on a 24x7x35 cover basis.
25 days holiday + bank holidays + additional 1 day`s holiday for every year worked up to 30 days holiday maximum.
The option to buy up to an extra 5 holiday days.
