Salary:             £23,200 to £31,900 basic (+ potential £10,000 profit-share bonus)

Are you ex-military or have been a Physical Training Instructor (PTI) in the Army, Royal Navy or Royal Air Force, and you are looking for a new and exciting opportunity? 

One of the UK`s biggest and most successful outdoor fitness organisation is recruiting for a full-time Fitness General Manager.  This new role will be pivotal to the future success and growth of the area business in and around Surrey where you will directly manage and take Profit & Loss responsibility for multiple parks, indoor locations and Personal Training facilities with multiple Full Time Lead Instructor and Instructor reports.

You will be a strong ambassador for the company`s brand and be well respected amongst your peers. This is a hands-on and active role and you will lead by example. You will run billable classes for approximately 40% of your time, 10 to 15 group sessions per week as well as managing your regional footprint. You will be responsible for delivering excellent standard across all venues in Surrey under direct management and for supporting the business` future growth in this territory.

Applicants must have military experience and must be available to attend the assessment centre in London on the 18th January 2019 as part of the interview process  and travel at their own cost.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Be responsible for the Health & Safety of yourself and the Lead Instructor, Instructors and Members at your Parks;
  • Control Profit & Loss performance for the area. Grow profit with accordance to the targets, oversee and lead sales strategy at your sites;
  • Deliver billable classes 40% of working time rotating through each site on continuously rolling basis and leading by example;
  • Manage attrition and grow membership. Interact with declining members to identify reasons and encourage renewing, and report findings;
  • Proactively welcome and engage with Trialists. Convert Trialist to become Members;
  • Welcome and engage with new Members;
  • Interact with Members and ensure classes are delivered to current programme in the appropriate way. Verify with Members that they are getting what they expect. Build trusted relationships and provide opportunity of support for Members;
  • Ensure Instructors and Lead Instructor deliver to technical and behavioural standards set by The Academy. Identify training needs for team and arrange delivery with The Academy, in time to maintain set requirement;  
  • Monitor Member progression to target for each site. Investigate and correct where low
  • Ensure equipment for programme is available, fit for purpose and assets accounted for. Control assets including containers, vans and trailers, whilst ensuring compliance with our client`s logistical and tracking procedures;
  • Be willing and available to attend training sessions;
  • Verify accurate sign-in of Members, and enforce time keeping and appearance standards;
  • Collaborate with other General Managers when support is requested;
  • Plan resource for classes at all Sites in area to correct ratio of Instructor to Members;
  • Be a positive representative of our client, both internally and externally;
  • Set targets for Lead Instructors and review personal performance monthly. Hold Instructors and Lead Instructors to employment terms and conditions;
  • Manage performance issues to company policy. Escalate when outside responsibility;
  • Identification of talent within Lead Instructor population;
  • Familiarise yourself with our client`s 24hr Ops Centre and communicate accordingly;

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications required:

Essential

  • Recognised Level 2 Fitness Trainer Qualification
  • Management Experience
  • Current Driving Licence
  • Current experience with a reputable Health & Fitness company, management position or group fitness establishment, studio, General Manager, personal trainer
  • Ability to interact and engage others, with the willingness to learn and succeed
  • A good understanding of IT using Word, Excel and Email
  • Exceptional communication skills across all level
