BS5697: Site Test Engineer
Salary: To £26,000 plus Overnight Allowance

The world’s largest manufacturer of high-technology cables and systems for energy and telecommunications is now looking for a Site Test Engineer to join its team. Reporting to the Test Engineering Manager, the Site Test Engineer will be responsible for the planning and testing of The Company’s High Voltage cable commissioning, condition assessment and fault location tests. A vehicle will be provided whilst working away on site.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and progress of High Voltage testing – liaising regularly with Project Manager, Site Manager and Site Engineers.
Interfacing with the Test Engineering Manager to accurately project completion information and up to date plans, allowing the production of accurate costs.
Communicating the plans and variations to the appropriate persons (Test Engineering Manager, project managers, site Engineers etc).
Perform site assessments prior to high voltage testing and produce detailed method statements and risk assessments.
Carry out construction and testing of test objects to achieve the testing program defined by the Test Engineering Manager.
Organisation of Test Department and subcontractor resources to achieve test programme.
Coordinating the ongoing maintenance, calibration and repair of test equipment.
Key Qualifications and Experience
Very good computer literacy, particularly regarding Microsoft Word, Excel and Access with the capability of writing technical reports of high quality.
Ideally have an electrical engineering background.
Communication skills and team working aptitude.
Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
Travel will be required; therefore a driving licence is essential.
Ability to work away for weekday, weekend or bank holidays, as required by the test programme.
A National Grid Competent Person qualification would be an advantage
