EB5536 Real Driving Emissions (RDE) Project Engineer
Location: Nuneaton
Salary: £28,200 - £40,300 DOE
Forces Recruitment Services are currently recruiting for a RDE Project Engineer to work for a global provider of engineering, research and test services to the automotive, defence, aerospace and rail sectors. Our client works in close collaboration with vehicle manufacturers and suppliers around the world, providing comprehensive support ranging from individual product tests to turnkey engineering design, development and build programmes.
Applications from ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Marines) are strongly encouraged.
Main purpose of role:
- To execute Real Driving Emissions (RDE) tests, in support of engineering programmes
- To support development of methodology for testing using Portable Emissions Measurement Systems (PEMS)
- To be able to train engineers and technicians for RDE competences
Key Responsibilities:
- To undertake RDE engineering test programmes – prepare, test, manage and report
- Customer liaison
- To support improvements of RDE test installation workshop area, minimising vehicle downtime
- To support RDE test installation commonisation and efficiency improvements with a focus on minimising customer costs
- To run PEMS system checks and maintain equipment in optimal state
- To drive RDE test routes to achieve legal RDE test requirements
- To participate in RDE methodology improvement and research programmes
- To train new recruits in all aspects of RDE testing
Experience:
- Automotive experience in delivering vehicle engineering programmes to cost, time and quality objectives
- Engineering data acquisition and analysis skills
Desirable experience:
- Vehicle development and/or vehicle emissions experience
- Vehicle driving experience to set routes and driving styles
Skills:
- Be competent to be able work alongside customer engineers, our engineers or unsupervised to carry out test programmes
- Be competent to carry out unsupervised - Planned Facility Maintenance and Repairs
- Have good interpersonal skills and the ability to integrate into a team working environment
- Be prepared to work extended hours and travel overseas on project work
- Work to required Health & Safety standards and ensure that company quality standards are adhered to
- Be competent to write test reports and operational documents
Qualifications:
Essential
- Full Driving Licence for Passenger Cars
- Degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering
- Higher Degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering would be desirable
- Heavy Duty driving experience would be desirable
Salary: £28,200 - £40,300 (depending on experience)
