An exciting opportunity for a Head Porter/Security Manager has opened up at a prestigious society in central London. The Head Porter will be sharing shift work along with two deputy porters in order to provide building security and coordination amongst staff to ensure the smooth running of the Society’s daily routine and special occasions/ceremonies. Head Porters will be required to liaise with Society members, staff, and members of the public, maintaining a professional manner at all times. This role is a live-in, uniformed position with accommodation provided with free onsite parking.

Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the security of the Society’s complex building in central London
- Responsible for the day-to-day running of the Porter’s office, including preparing staff rotas, distributing mail and handing internal communications
- Managing a team of sixteen people: deputy porters, car park staff and night time security officers
- Advise the Sub-Treasurer (Chief Executive) on all security issues (not including cyber-security)
- Responding to all emergencies (along with other members of staff) raised by residents or guests while on duty during the day or, if required, out of hours
- Responsible for First-Aid preparedness within the Society, to include organizing first aid training and replacement of first aid equipment
- Control access to the main building when on duty, including during social and official functions
- Ceremonial duties, to include the care of ceremonial artefacts and leading processions in very special circumstances
Skills, Prior Experience and Person Specification:
- Knowledge and experience of CCTV operating systems
- Experience of managing teams and working with members of the public
- IT literate with Microsoft Office programs
- A good level of written and spoken English
- Experience with electronic door systems and software (desirable)
- First Aid qualified (desirable- but training provided)
Salary: £33,147 per annum + OT
Hours: Shifts shared with two deputy porters
