Description :

A market leader in the field of chilled foods distribution and logistics are currently recruiting LGV C+E Drivers on a permanent basis. The client is keen to hear from individuals with demonstrable experience in driving and transport, and is particularly keen to hear from applicants who recognise the importance of possessing the right attitudes and behaviours to uphold company values, not just the relevant driving licences. Successful LGV Drivers will benefit from various shift patterns being available (subject to business need), a wide range of start times, including full and part-time opportunities, along with an excellent benefits package. Newly qualified drivers are welcome and will be supported to achieve appropriate knowledge and experience.

Applications from suitably experienced ex-military personnel (British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy or Royal Marines) are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver goods safely to distribution centre and returning to depot with limited interaction with the load
  • Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including all aspects of health, safety and hygiene
  • Maintain a high standard of behaviour and appearance
  • Effectively manage own working time in line with Working Time Directive
  • Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
  • Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure
  • Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks
  • Ensure correct completion of a defect report as and when required
  • Make deliveries to customers’ premises, acting in a professional manner at all times, and observing site rules
  • Immediately report any problems regarding delivery arrival times, delays or discrepancies with loads
  • Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery
  • Ensure regular communication with the Transport Office
  • Act in a responsibly and safely responsibly on the road at all times

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Hold LGV C+E licence with up-to-date CPC qualification
  • Have working knowledge of EU Drivers Hours Regulations and Road Transport Directive regulations governing working time
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Adaptable and methodical approach to work/training
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
  • Effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines
  • Able to work using own initiative or as part of a team

Desirable:

  • Have proven experience in driving articulated vehicles and have good geographic knowledge of UK roads

Salary:

circa £28,000 + OT + allowances subject to shift patterns
