The Company and the Role:
The Company is a multi-award winning, family run gastro pub chain operating 8 sites in the South East, currently seeking a permanent Sous Chef for their public house located near Crowborough East Sussex
They are looking for a committed Sous Chef with a passion for management and excellent customer service, who is ready to continue developing their career in an award-winning venue.
The establishment is well known to the locals and attracts tourists that visit the area through its great reputation with roaring fires and cosy décor for those winter months & stunning south facing garden with superb views it certainly is a great pub
Key Features of the Role:
The role of Sous Chef is challenging, as you`ll be expected to make sure the brigade is producing top-quality cuisine and that chefs with talent are trained and developed. In addition, you’ll have to take charge of the kitchen in the head chef’s absence.
You will be a great team player with good organisational skills and the ability to thrive in a very busy environment, to an award-winning pub standard, enhancing the company’s reputation for consistently preparing cooking and presenting dishes to the right quality that is second to none.
You will be working under a very talented, experienced and dedicated Head Chef who will guide you in the management on how to run a smooth, efficient kitchen ultimately turning you into a great Head Chef for the future.
Knowledge and Skills:
Be an accomplished Sous Chef ideally with gastro pub experience
Experience in designing regularly changing menus and embracing food culture.
Be able to motivate and manage the brigade to produce consistently great food as well delivering the required standards of health and safety, cleaning and food hygiene.
Must have experience in ordering, stock control and strong financial understanding.
Be confident in training and recruiting new team members and strive to be the best at what they do.
An ability to stay calm when the pressure mounts.
Be able to manage the kitchen structure set by the Head Chef on their days off.
First rate culinary skills and knowledge of all areas of the kitchen.
What’s on Offer?
Basic salary will be in the region of £22,000 - £26,000 per annum depending experience and skill set.
Accommodation can be provided if required.
Tips which can be worth around £80 per week.
Benefits include, bonus, pension scheme, staff loyalty scheme after 3 months and childcare vouchers, uniform provided.
Standard working week is 45 hours working 5 shifts a week which will include split shifts and weekends.
