Description :
A large and established logistics company is seeking multiple Shunter Drivers to ensure customer’s factory is kept supplied with trailers in line with the customer contract. The Shunter Driver will ideally have a C+E licence and be CPC trained. This is a rotating day and night shift with a 4on 4off basis.
Applications from suitably experienced ex-military personnel (British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, or Royal Marines) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Main Duties:
- Remove loaded trailers as required, both APD (docks) and Manual (bays) and replace with the relevant empty trailers to ensure the efficient loading and replacement of trailers within the specified time lines where applicable
- Ensure all loaded trailers are sealed before shunting to other sites
- Ensure all paperwork from factory despatch office is supplied to Shift Leader swiftly
- Ensure safety of all empty trailers either position on the docks or down the wells so they can be loaded
- Load the APD trailers via the APD beds within the factory and print relevant documentation
- Coordinate activities in conjunction with Shift Leader to ensure safety requirements are met, including the security of parked vehicles to maintain an efficient working environment
- Report any damage to the Shift Leader to ensure quick and effective repairs
- Report any issues with Manual and Auto loading bays to customer associates
- Report on Trailers/APD’s not correctly to ensure safety on delivery
- Work co-operatively with colleagues to ensure the function operates consistently and effectively in the implantation of all departmental procedures and policies
- Keep up to date with information, training and development opportunities appropriate to maintaining and developing professional service standards
- Ensuring that services are delivered in line with the relevant Health & Safety processes
- Undertake other duties as may be required that reasonably fall within the scope and grade of the post
Person Specification:
- LGV category C+E
- CPC Training completed
- Health & Safety awareness
- Vehicle compliance knowledge – truck checks etc.
- Knowledge of the Working time directive and Tachograph hours
- Good planning, organisation skills
- Proven ability for decision making
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Team Player
