Forces Recruitment Services is working in partnership with a client to expand their team and recruit a Concierge, ideally from an ex-military background or military leavers, to effectively maintain the internal and external communal areas and provide a high standard level of service to residents and all visitors, within a highly regarded estate in Westminster, Central London.

The estate presently employs one Concierge but wishes to increase this to two to extend the service coverage. You will be responsible for the supervision of maintenance and service contractors and also for ensuring the security of the residents and the estate as a whole.

The present Concierge`s hours are from 7am to 4pm Monday to Fridays (\"the first shift\"); the second Concierge`s hours will initially be from 3pm to 7pm Monday to Fridays and from 8am to noon on Saturdays (\"the second shift\"). The successful candidate will be assigned to this second shift at the outset but must be prepared at any time to switch to the first shift when required, or to lengthen the duration of the second shift by starting up to 2 hours earlier. No work will be required on Saturday afternoons or Sundays.

Applications from ex-military personnel are strongly encouraged (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Marines) however all applications will be considered.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be polite and courteous at all times to residents and any estate visitors in person or on the telephone.
  • Be present at the concierge desk, other than when conducting the specific duties detailed below, to greet residents, visitors and contractors, and seek to prevent unauthorised access to the building.
  • Walk around the entire estate each day and note any specific problems. Notify Head Office daily (if necessary) of any queries or problems relating to the Estate which require attention.
  • Manage the daily duties of the cleaning staff at the Estate in accordance with the current cleaning schedule and supervise cleaning staff.
  • Supervise all contractors who work on site.
  • Check bins store area daily, arrange to have removed surplus rubbish from site, sweep and disinfect as necessary (after refuse has been collected).
  • Carry out a daily litter picking (both inside and outside the entrance) and remove litter once a week from the bays outside belonging to the Estate.
  • Organise 4-wheels bins and make sure they are placed in a convenient location for the refuse collectors every collection day.
  • Take the electricity and heat meter readings on the first Monday of each month and forward to Head Office.
  • Carry out a weekly leaks survey and report as necessary by completing the form for each new leak, sending a copy to Head Office and retaining the master copy on site. Follow the defined leaks procedure.
  • Where directed by the Property Manager, test mechanical, emergency and other systems weekly or as designated, keeping a log as required.  Be prepared to attend at the Estate in the event of an emergency, outside working hours, as required.
  • Test the fire alarm system every Wednesday and record in log.
  • Complete weekly inspection report.
  • Carry out daily security check of the site perimeter.
  • Carry out a daily check of all internal and external light fittings and replace light bulbs where necessary. Contact Head Office if contractors are required.
  • Notify Property Manager daily of any queries or problems relating to the estate which require attention, including any residents` complaints.
  • Fix, repair or clean any area or problem if able to do so safely.
  • Keep management store and porters` desk in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Keep log of items stored in residents` storage room.
  • Assist residents with deliveries, contractor visits and general queries as far as reasonably possible (including, at concierge`s sole discretion, any minor lifting and carrying to/from individual properties).
  • Ensure that post is delivered in a timely manner to residents` mailboxes only by Royal Mail staff. 
  • Hold keys for residents, provided an indemnity form has been signed.
  • Accept and hold deliveries for residents, provided an indemnity form has been signed.
  • Keep a log of all contractor visits and work carried out.
  • Ensure that the site is fully equipped and order all necessary materials and equipment such as light bulbs, cleaning materials, etc.
  • Carry out any other instructions and minor maintenance repairs as directed by the Property Manager.
