The Company and the Role:
The Company has been around since the early 90`s and has become a leading contract caterer in the area of education which accounts for around 90% of their units with the remaining 10% being Business and Industry outlets e.g. staff restaurants etc.
They are currently looking for an experienced Area Catering Manager / Group Manager to cover for a 3 / 4 month period, managing the kitchens of 15 primary schools. The role is based in the Orpington / Bexley area and is full time.
Key Features of the Role:
Understand and deliver client and company service standards, both operationally and financially and continually strive to exceed them through a pro-active, responsible and committed approach.
Ensure retention of all schools within the centrally managed contract through customer satisfaction at individual sites.
Lead and motivate Area Support team and through them the staff they are responsible for.
Liaise with and meet Headteachers and the day-to-day client contact on a regular basis
Regularly accompany Area Support team on site visits and completing audits
Plan and deliver training as required and create opportunities for career development and advancement
Recruitment and selection of staff to company processes and deal with employee relations issues
Increase sales through increased meal numbers and hospitality sales, whilst effectively controlling food costs
Plan, organise and control the Catering Establishments` operations to ensure that the food quality, presentation and service are provided to the appropriate Group Schools.
Recommend and implement cost reductions and service improvements
Assist the Manager Client Services in preparing the Annual Budget.
Achieve and maintain the food cost in accordance with this budget & to produce cost/sales analyses
Ensure that heavy duty kitchen equipment, light equipment, work areas, other facilities and general surroundings of the Catering Establishments are maintained and operated to the standards required by the Statutory, Local Authority and Company Hygiene, Health and Safety and Fire regulations and policies.
Involvement in menu planning, special events and hospitality events
Knowledge and Skills:
Previous contract catering experience within large volume catering, preferably have been a Site Manager
Strong commercial experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong leadership and management ability
Professional demeanour
Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities
Ambitious and career driven
Sound accounting and computer and literacy skills
Must be able to attain a satisfactory Enhanced DBS Disclosure or security clearance, cleared Bared List Check essential and compliance with safeguarding regulations.
Current and full driving licence and reliable vehicle is essential
What`s on Offer?
An interim role for around 3 months.
Ideal for a candidate who is currently in between jobs.
Great working hours, Monday to Friday 7.30am - 4pm.
Salary of £2666 per month.
Mileage paid at 45p per mile between sites during the day (Not the mileage to/from work)
Holiday pay - you will accumulate 2 days for every month work and can be either paid at the end of interim or during the October half term.
