HQ5435 Fibre Optic Engineer – Data Centre
Location: Corsham
Salary: £18,000 - £25,000 DOE
An exciting opportunity has become available to work as a Fibre Optic Engineer for a rapidly expanding technology based company at their Data Centres. The Fibre Optic Engineer will be undertaking cross site connections and be responsible for installing cables, termination and testing and work between both Data Centres (Farborough or Corsham) There may be occasions to travel further afield, so flexibility is imperative. A company vehicle will be provided as required.
The Fibre Optic Engineer will work a 37 hour week Monday- Friday and any additional hours and weekend work will have an increase of pay accordingly

Key Responsibilities;
- Installation and termination of cables, construction of ODF/IDF’s, trunking, termination shelves, and other associated activities
- Understand the use of, cable and fibre test equipment, produce and analyse test documentation, and prepare reports
- Smart hands activity, checking alarms on active hardware, rebooting equipment and other associated tasks, under instruction from the client.
- Reporting effectively to a Supervisor on a daily, weekly and as required basis.
- Fostering good customer relationships
- Providing standby/shift cover as required on a rota basis
- Working in accordance with the clients and customers’ Health and Safety requirements.
- To use basic cable and fibre optic test equipment, complete job cards and documents as required

Skills & Qualifications;
- Proven experience in fibre optic, network cable installations, splicing and testing within this field
- CAT5/6
- OTDR Fibre Optic Testing
- IT qualification
- Copper experience
- Data qualification
- Security Clearance and a CSCS Card would be an advantage
