The Company and the Role:
Hospitality and Catering Lecturer permanent opportunity, in Eastleigh, for an accomplished Head Chef or non-qualified teacher who can train, develop and coach others in a professional catering career.

As an accomplished Head Chef or Kitchen Trainer you must be able to teach on courses, and work to develop a positive impact on learners and the assessment process.
You must have the skills and ability to provide guidance and support in an active working environment, developing student competences in a safe environment, as well as offering external support, promoting and safeguarding welfare.
Working within the team structure of a higher education facility, taking responsibility and ownership of your catering and hospitality teaching duties, liaising with stakeholders and reporting to line managers on outcomes, achievements, challenges etc.

Key Features of the Role:
As a Hospitality and Catering Lecturer you will draw on your catering and hospitality experience, as well as your training experience to offer students an engaging and exciting education in the practical and theoretical of food types, preparation, nutrition, cooking, techniques, styles and influences.
You will also make sure that all students are aware of the health, safety and legal requirements when it comes to the day to day in a catering and hospitality environment, giving advice, hints, tips, what to be aware off, and the effects and implications if they do not do their job correctly.
You will be responsible for organising, implementing and completing your educational program, assisting students to learn and develop literacy, numeracy, language, communication, attitude, team work and how to handle deadlines and time management.
You will need to be able to engage with students on a face to face level and be able to explain easy and difficult tasks which they will need to complete, as well as being able to be objective when required.
Using your training and catering management background and experience, you want to impart knowledge, teach the whole class and add value to their overall learning and development.
The training restaurant is open for daytime service for 32 weeks per year with additional evening service 26 weeks per year, you will be responsible for both services, as the training kitchen supports the training restaurant.

Knowledge and Skills:
As an unqualified teacher the maximum basic annual salary available is up to £23,561 per annum. However, if you manage to complete your teachers qualifications, then your basic salary could increase up to £34,571 when it comes up for review.
You must be qualified to at least a GCSE or equivalent in Maths grade A* to C, or level 2 in professional catering, and have experience across the range of catering disciplines.
As a Hospitality and Catering Lecturer you must be a professional Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef with industry experience, managing a kitchen brigade, or a similar kitchen trainer.
You must use organisational, presentational, teaching, coaching and development skills in your current job.
Ideally you should be coming from a similar catering and Hospitality Lecturer or trainer background, and have the relevant certificates and qualifications, in a similar Chef role.
You must be emotionally robust to handle students in both a training and fully working kitchen environment.
To be considered for this role you will have to pass the right to work requirements with valid ID, no criminal convictions (due to DBS being carried out on every candidate), and you will require proof of qualifications.

What`s on Offer?
Basic annual salary up to £23,561.
Working onsite in a fully functioning training kitchen and restaurant.
37 hours per week working Monday to Friday, 52 days per week.
The location is a non-smoking site for health and safety reasons.
