An ambitious and large progressive company that delivers technology/IT solutions is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Services Engineers to join their friendly and accomplished teams based in Guernsey. The Senior Infrastructure Services Engineer will provide technical advice, implementation, support and maintenance services to ensure the availability of systems and services, to both internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support
  • Delivers technical support to clients, both internal and external, in the resolution of incidents and in support of the operation of their IT environments
  • Provides resource for projects and managed service engagements
  • Provide pre-sales support to Sales and other departments in the acquisition of new business
  • Assists in the undertaking of the discovery and assessment of client needs and requirements
  • Provides support for specific technology areas (e.g. Microsoft server applications) and supporting infrastructures
  • Undertake any ad hoc engineering projects and tasks as directed and perform other duties, to ensure and enhance the effectiveness of services
  • Assist in the delivery of internal improvement projects
  • Ensure relevant technical, operational and security processes and procedures, are followed and established quality standards are met
  • Ensure key documents and systems, such as Service Desk tools, are updated and completed in a prompt and timely manner
  • Provide regular and timely feedback to the Service Desk
  • Compile and maintain documentation in regard to the design, build, configuration and operation of client’s and of service delivery systems and platforms
  • Attend and contribute to client reviews and other client support meetings
  • Follow and contribute to process and procedural documentation and identify related improvement opportunities
  • Provide support for Internal IT services
  • Provide ad hoc support to internal groups (e.g. data centre support)
  • Extend own capability through personal development, especially in relation to knowledge and understanding of:
    • Service delivery systems and platforms, as well as client-specific systems and technologies
    • Processes and procedures for the management, maintenance and administration of service delivery to meet contractual arrangements and service level agreements
    • Client-specific security and confidentiality procedures
    • New technologies and trends

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar technical role
  • MCSA Server 2012 accreditation or equivalent
  • ITIL v3 Foundation
  • Microsoft server and desktop based operating systems support experience
  • Use and support of fundamental areas of servers and desktops (AD, DNS, GPO, DHCP, etc.)
  • Have good knowledge with virtual platforms (VMware and/or Hyper-V)
  • Proven ability to work and support users/colleagues with a high standard of technical skills.
  • Experience with software, such as Citrix, Exchange, Office 365, WSUS
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong customer service coupled with a professional and ethical attitude
  • Good time and problem management skills
  • Striving to hold a Consultant level position
  • A self-motivated and proactive attitude
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Able to work independently and as a team work
  • Ability to work under pressure and to remain calm
  • Clean driving licence

Desirable:

  • Qualifications with Virtual platforms, Linux, Azure, Citrix or Exchange
