HQ4258:           Business Development Executive
Salary:             £50,000 base (£80,000 with OTE) including London weighting at £3,000pa

Location:          London

The Business Development Executive will work for a national Chartered Quantity Surveying practice which provides bespoke profitable support, cost management and contractual services to the building industry, and will be an experienced, enthusiastic and driven sales achiever with 10+ years’ sales experience and a track record of over performance against targets.

You will lead the implementation and development of the client sales and marketing strategy, build strong working relationships with existing and new clients alike and lead the sales and marketing team.  

The role will be largely autonomous and you will need to be comfortable meeting and selling to key heads and director level decision makers, and represent the professional image of our client.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities / Tasks:

  • Production and ownership of the Development Business Plan, which spans all offices and divisions of the client.
  • Production of management information that clearly articulates the progress and achievements against the Development Business Plan.
  • Forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions; projecting expected sales volume; analysing trends and results.
  • Accountability and ownership to our Client’s Board of the business development budget.
  • Attendance at management meetings to review performance against this budget.
  • The development of a clear and concise sales, advertising and marketing strategy, in conjunction with the divisional and regional directors. Securing our Client’s Board agreement.
  • Meeting both existing and potential new clients (including cold calling) to sell our client’s companies and the relevant services. Managing the ongoing relationships.
  • Clearly communicating to our client’s Board and the Regional Directors of the latest opportunities and the likelihood of securing said opportunities.
  • Preparing service proposals and fee proposals, negotiating the terms of relevant agreements and closing sales.
  • Establishing and implementing a strategy for the companies’ attendance at trade fairs, award dinners, etc.
  • Leading the collation of relevant market and customer data to inform the sales strategy and business plan.
  • Identifies marketing opportunities by identifying customer requirements; defining market, competitor`s share, and competitor`s strengths and weaknesses; establishing targeted market share.

Person Specification:

  • Experience within the Construction Industry and in particular the Sales environment.
  • A natural leader with good people management skills, building and developing the people within the sales and marketing team. Supporting the development of the wider team.
  • Sector and work experience to be varied and to ideally include major construction works. 
  • Experience within the Retail, Leisure, Education, and Health Care markets. (Desirable)
  • The ability and desire to sell with a proven track record.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A positive, confident and determined approach.
  • Being resilient and the ability to cope with rejection.
  • A high degree of self-motivation and ambition.
  • Being driven by your results and achievements.
  • The capability to flourish in a competitive environment.
  • A good level of numeracy and IT skills.
  • Commercially astute and able to interpret contracts and the like.
  • Reasoned decision maker.

Salary:£50,000 base (£80,000 with OTE) including London weighting at £3,000pa
