THE CERTIFICATE COURSE FOR BUTLERS

The syllabus covers the following:

•The roles of staff within the household

The multifaceted role of the Butler both traditional / modern

•Personal Assistant skills ~ liaising with hotels / travel / theatres

•Valet skills (including packing and unpacking)

•The Dining Room (formal and informal) and the laying of tables

•Service of food (butler / silver / family / buffet / picnic / shoots / trays)

•Wines ~ their types/ storage/ inventories and matching with food

•Cigars ~ their handling and storage

•Cleaning of silver/ crockery/ glass

•Employee relationships and problem solving

•Protocol and dealing with guests/ hospitality arrangements/ telephone

•Household accounts and accountability/ record keeping

•Basic First Aid/ Health and Safety/ Security

•A whole day working alongside a Butler in a private household


THE CERTIFICATE COURSE FOR HOUSEKEEPERS

The syllabus covers the following:

•The roles of staff within the household

•The multifaceted role of the Housekeeper both traditional/modern

•Personal Assistant skills ~ liaising with hotels/ travel/ theatres

•The wardrobe, care of clothes (including packing and unpacking)

•The Dining Room (formal and informal) and the laying of tables

•Service of food (butler/ silver/ family/ buffet/ picnic/ shoots/ trays)

•The kitchen, the pantry and food storage

•Flowers, vegetables and links with the Gardener

•Wines ~ their types and matching with food

•Laundry and ironing and the linen cupboard

•Cleaning of silver/ crockery/ glass and fine artifacts

•Employee relationships and problem solving

•Protocol and dealing with guests/ hospitality arrangements/ telephone

•Household accounts and accountability/ record keeping

•Basic first aid/ health and safety/ security

•Child care and care of pets and other related responsibilities

Course Fees:

Butler fee: £600 +VAT (total £705)
(including a work experience day)

Housekeeper fee: £500 +VAT (total £587.50)

Couples will be charged per person.
