Description :

Our client is an integrated logistics and FM provider offering catering, facilities management, facilities design, maintenance and communications solutions to the mining, oil and gas and industrial sectors. It operates extensively in Africa.
They are seeking a Retail Shop Manager in Lusaka, Zambia, Africa. The position is permanent on an open ended contract.
Reporting into the Project Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the total management of the day to day operations of the outlet(s).
You will maintain visual merchandising and in-store displays and ensure the store appearance meets company standards.
You will be in charge of procurement and negotiation of purchase prices in conjunction with the Supply Chain Manager, as well as timely delivery of stock on agreed time.
You will carry out a daily morning sales floor walk checking for unusual things which needs attention and plan for the day.
You will identify products that needs re-ordering and place orders with necessary suppliers.
You will determine the product range of the shop especially items for the targeted market segment.
You will ensure that the shop is kept clean at all times in line with the standards of the shop.
You will give present and new staff in-house customer care training.
You will ensure staff are conforming to laid down procedures and disciplinary code governing all the outlets.
You will ensure that health and hygiene standards are adhered to.
You will co-ordinate with maintenance staff in keeping the shop and machinery in good order.
You will supervise and attend to all security issues of the shop.
You will promote the FIFO concept in handling stock in the sales floor and TQC in service departments.
You will conduct periodical stock takes and will control shrinkage and pilferage to the most minimal per cent.
You will plan for stock holding before busy periods and occasions, (Xmas, Valentine and events in the area, etc.)
You will come up with ideas to increase the sales of the shop especially in impulse selling.
You will perform price surveys in order to compete favourably on the market.
You will be up to date with the economical happenings of time so that you can provide satisfactory answers to queries.
You will choose the best suppliers to order from with good terms which are viable to the shop.
You will carry out sourcing of new suppliers and negotiate the best terms.
You will monitor and control stock levels to acceptable levels which are cost effective to the shop.
You will ensure that products are merchandised generically in rightful areas so that its easier for customers to find them.
You will attend to expire products accordingly and will provide Senior Management with reports required daily.
You will advise management with the requirements of the operation of the shop - staffing, equipment, renovation etc.
You will prepare and check operational documents like orders, GRV and action some reports like exceptional reports and others in order to control the mistakes and ensure total profitability of all activities done in the shop.
You will supervise the use of the shop operating system (CCS) as is the way it is to be used by Clerks, Cashiers etc.
You will attend to all customer complaints and issues concerning the shop and sort them in a viable way.
You will ensure optimum usage of packaging materials by staff in order to contain cost.
You will ensure proper pricing and all mark ups are in line with Q&A requirement.
You will be responsible for all community and social functions held by staff.
You will ensure the operating time of the shop is adhered to strictly. (Opening and Closing times).
You will tour the sales floor regularly, talking to colleagues and customers, identifying or resolving urgent issues.
Finally you will update all staff on business performance, new initiatives and other pertinent issues.
To meet this unique challenge, you will ideally be an ambitious retail professional with significant retail experience ideally gained in an international recognised retail / duty free operation or military arena.
You will ideally be an accomplished Retail Store Manager with experience in customer service, retail sales, purchasing, hands on merchandising, staff supervision, financial reporting, trend analysis, budgeting and inventory control essential.
You should be familiar with retail EPOS and computer based stock and WMS systems and should also have an appreciation of warehouse and logistics operations.
With outstanding leadership ability and a strong customer focus, you will have the confidence to win credibility and make an immediate contribution.
