Our client is the largest supplier of recreational Internet to military locations in the UK and Germany. Supplying over 45 sites with broadband in total their service currently covers over 35,000 bed spaces. They also supply apartment blocks and hospitals etc and they design, build and maintain large-scale wireless networks. They are currently seeking a Field Network Engineer to service the needs of Catterick Garrison. The position is permanent and home based although you must live within reasonable travelling distance from Catterick, North Yorkshire. Being part of a team tasked with a continuous roll out plan and on-going network maintenance, you will assist members of our clients customer services / technical support team to resolve network issues remotely. You will also visit our clients networks and perform on-going maintenance and network upgrade work. You will also take responsibility for network performance testing and identifying issues that will require engineering resources. Knowledge and Skills: You should be an accomplished Network Engineer and hold SC clearance. You should have a good understanding of how IP protocol functions and be familiar with IP routing, have previous experience of working with routers, wireless access points, Network trouble shooting skills - Be able to identify network issues. You should hold a full EU driving license and hold the relevant documentation allowing you to work and freely travel within the European Union. You should have excellent verbal and written command of English language. Be a team player with good communication skills. You should be prepared to spend nights away from home and some international travel. This is a tough role and will require a fair amount of working away from home and traveling. If successful you will be exposed to state of the art wireless and ISP technology giving you an insight to the mechanics of how ISPs operate from a technical, commercial and customer perspective. Basic salary depending upon knowledge and skill set will be in a range of £25-28k.
