Our Client is an international integrated logistics and facilities management provider who specialise in the military support services sector, post conflict and remote areas.

They operate military camps throughout Afghanistan and they are currently seeking a Certified Electrician for their Technical Services Section based in Afghanistan. This a permanent position on an open ended contract.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will ensure the cost effective and efficient functioning of electrical equipment as required by the company operation.  You will ensure the perpetual availability and reliability of all equipment groups and will operate the electrical maintenance function in line with company and contract objectives whilst maintaining a first class service to customers.

You will inspect existing substandard electrical installations and remedy any faults to British standard of workmanship and quality

You will conduct the operation and maintenance of the following: Electrical cables and wiring, power generators, facility electrical utility equipment and distribution lines. 

You will install, inspect, repair, operate and maintain electrical distribution, generators, motors, pumps, cables, wiring and all other electrical systems and to do related works as required.

You will install, inspect, repair, operate and maintain electrical and generator systems, equipment, such as pump stations, pumps, generator systems, electric distribution.

You will install, inspect, and repair lighting, switches, receptacles, generators, power distribution / breaker panel; To cut, thread, and bend pipes according to requirements;

You will maintain facility maps for all existing and new components of the electric distribution systems. 

You will be responsible for testing, sampling, inspecting, record keeping and reporting in accordance with applicable regulations/ policies.

You will perform quality testing in accordance with regulatory requirements to insure safe electrical distribution and power generation system; inspects, tests and repairs all electrical distribution equipment and power generators.

You will be accountable for the inspection, maintenance, and asset management of all tools, equipment and personal protective clothing and conducts regular inventory of the same.

You will be accountable for the Testing, sampling, inspecting, record keeping and reporting in accordance with UK, and Local regulations/policies.

You will work from plans and specifications and follow rough sketches and oral and written instructions; and related capacities and abilities.

Finally you will be flexible to work a variety of hours to include power outages, short circuits and other emergency situations to ensure the proper functioning of the BU`s electrical and power generator utility services.

Knowledge and Skills:

You will be an accomplished 17^thEdition qualified Electrical Wireman with your practical experience supported by Technical Trade Training from a recognized institute in an electrical trade, or equivalent. Ideally City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent.

Ideally you will have PAT Testing certification and will have familiarity with all types of electrical works.

You should possess a broad range of electrical installation skills in other trade areas such as Plumbing / HVAC to assist as required with installing and commissioning these types of installations.

You should be experienced in the operation and maintenance of pumps, motors, voltmeters and gauges.

You will have proven knowledge of safety measures, hazards and precautions.

You will have the ability to work from plans/specifications and to follow rough sketches and English oral and written instructions which should include experience in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, blueprints and floor plan details.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language, able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.

Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.

You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.

Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC literate with MS Office, e mail and the Internet.
