
Our Client is an international integrated logistics and facilities management provider who specialise in the military support services sector, post conflict and remote areas.
Our client manages the design, construction and operation of sites for clients who need to operate in some of the worlds most challenging environments.
They are currently seeking Logistics Operations Manager who will work across both Africa and Afghanistan. This is a permanent position on an open ended contract.
Reporting to the Operations Support Manager, the successful candidate will monitor and improve foodservice operating processes through the use of best practice principles and lean logistic process.
You will act as cover for Managers on rotation, form part of central implementation team when new start ups are activated.
You will be responsible and accountable for managing depot operations to deliver optimum quality, performance and cost effectiveness.
You will plan and organize stock in the warehouse against constantly changing operational requirements to ensure availability of inventory to meet operational requirements and ensure processes are followed for improved stock and inventory management.
You will lead warehouse activities including the planning and execution of stock takes, manage inventory control, ensure minimum loss and damaged goods and oversee product quality management control processes.
You will oversee and plan daily operations of receipt and issuance of all warehouse equipment and items, unloading of delivery vehicles and containers and oversee stock transfers.
You will monitor and report on performance of warehouse operations including performance reports on cycle times, injury statistics, distribution of inventory, stock on hand, etc on agreed KPIs.
You will ensure when required the logistics associated with distribution of stock across foodservice AOR’s and outbound distribution to customer sites is fully maintained.
You will develop, implement and monitor operational reporting procedures to examine compliance and make improvements to operations as directed by Operations Support Manager.
You will work with the Operations Manager to ensure the maintenance schedule for all depot equipment, machinery, vehicles and infrastructure are fit for use.
You will manage the performance of various departments when required (including rosters, performance reviews, learning and development, absence management, disciplinary matters and managing resource levels to cover leave rotations etc).
You will, when tasked form part of the implementation team and roll out best practice across foodservice depots, play an integral part of new depot start up and development.
Finally, you will perform other duties as requested by the Operational Support Manager.
To meet this unique challenge, you will ideally be an ambitious logistics operations professional with your warehousing, transport and inventory management experience ideally gained in a food logistics / fmcg environment.
With outstanding leadership ability and a strong customer focus, you will have the confidence to win credibility and make an immediate contribution.
Your work experience should ideally be supported by a qualification in either a logistics or operational doctrine.
You should be familiar with computer based stock and WMS systems (ideally Exceed) with RF screening experience and will be an experienced PC user familiar with MS Office, e mail and the Internet.
In addition you should have a working knowledge of HACCAP and ISO 9000 standards. A military background would be very useful.
You should have proven leadership, management and change management experience in a distribution business and held a compromable management position in another logistics organization.
You should be able to plan for the unexpected and have contingency plans in place should the unexpected occur and have them put in place at a moments notice.
You should have excellent supervisory and people management kills and be able to work independently when required and have sound judgement in decision making.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language, able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
