Our Client is an international integrated logistics and facilities management provider who specialise in the military support services sector, post conflict and remote areas.

Our client manages the design, construction and operation of sites for clients who need to operate in some of the worlds most challenging environments.

They are currently seeking a Depot General Manager to work in Afghanistan.  This is a permanent position on an open ended contract.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the successful candidate will manage, control and account for the running of a specific area of operation for the company ensuring we deliver operational excellence exceeding customer service expectations whilst enhancing the capabilities of the company.

You will ensure the operation is run to both comply with company and customer contractual obligations.

You will develop and review strategies and concepts with Regional Manager for the improvement of procedures and ongoing development of you area of responsibility (AOR) to maintain the Company as a professional foodservice supplier.

You will review and manage the conducting of internal audits of all aspects of the operation on an ongoing basis ensuring strict compliance with both company operating principals and procedures.

You will liaise with Central Services – Dubai to ensure operational efficiency and consistency of customer service excellence.

You will liaise with ISAF and NATO and attend meetings with said organizations.

You will liaise and be POC for AFG ministries and Government Departments.

You will hold regular operational meetings including Service level agreements (SLA) and QA/HACCP meetings with relevant staff.

You will be actively involved in the development and training of your team ensuring a cohesive focused team of specialists.

You will be able to plan and manage change.

You will accept responsibility for all reporting, invoicing, inventory and assets, auditing all procedures to ensure compliancy towards the agreed goals.

You will oversee the security of the company’s staff and assets and maintain to the highest standards possible.

You will be able to encourage and gain commitment and ownership of the operation by all.

You will be able to ensure that depot operates within legislative requirements.

You will implement and manage operational efficiencies where appropriate.

You will contribute to the professional reputation of the Company.

Finally, you will perform any other duties as directed by Regional Manager and deputize for the Regional Manager in his absence when required.

You will need to be an accomplished logistics professional / DepotGeneral Manager ideally with some of your experience gained in a short shelf life or fast moving food wholesaling / multi – drop environment, giving exposure to business development, quality systems and procedures and budgetary control.

Your work experience should ideally be supported by a qualification in either a logistics or operational doctrine.

You should be experienced in change management, and excellent inter-personal skills are essential as is an innovative and analytical approach.

Above all you must have the natural ability and courage to drive change, maintain morale and deliver results. A military background would be very useful.

You should be familiar with computer based stock and WMS systems (ideally Exceed) with RF screening experience and will be an experienced PC user familiar with MS Office, e mail and the Internet.

In addition you should have a working knowledge of HACCAP and ISO 9000 standards.

You should have proven leadership, management and change management experience in a distribution business and held a compromable management position in another logistics organization.

Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
