Description :

Our client is looking to expand their team and recruit an experienced Transport Coordinator to be responsible for the planning and deployment activities associated with the transportation of courtesy cars, recovered casualty vehicles and ad-hoc vehicle delivery.

Reporting directly to the Logistics Manager, the successful candidate will work directly with logistical and operational teams to ensure solutions are delivered to customers’ expectations as well as being sustainable and supportable. It is anticipated that the Transport Coordinator work shifts (6am–3pm or 2pm–11pm) and follow the pattern of 7 on 3 off, and 7 on 4 off.

Applications from ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Marines) are strongly encouraged.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the activities associated with the central reservations and transportation of courtesy cars, recovered casualty vehicles and ad-hoc vehicle delivery
  • To optimise transport planning in the most efficient way for customers and stakeholders
  • Be the first point of contact for our client’s drivers and sub-contractor drivers
  • Deal with customer enquiries by telephone and email, ensuring all queries are dealt with in a timely manner and efficiently
  • Ensure all databases are up to date with the most accurate information
  • Continuously monitor the operation by obtaining and reviewing information from multiple sources so that appropriate action can be taken
  • To ensure that accurate records of all works are kept and maintained
  • Work collaboratively to quickly resolve issues which can cause significant impact to the business
  • To share documentation and training to all relevant teams to ensure effective knowledge transfer
  • To assist in the training of operators and support staff
  • To demonstrate a cohesive approach and communicate confidently at the highest level to build meaningful external and internal relationships
  • To ensure all other departments are up to date with any progress, issues or changes and report accordingly
  • To take a proactive approach to the Health and Safety of themselves and others during all tasks undertaken

Knowledge and skills required:

  • Good geographical knowledge of the UK
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise own work load and to work to tight deadlines
  • Composure under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Good working knowledge of Office applications such as Outlook and Word
  • Able to accurately capture, record and relay information using appropriate technology
  • Highly effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The ability to carry out responsibilities with the minimum of supervision

Additional Requirement: To be able to pass Police Vetting processes

Salary:             £22,000 – £24,000 (depending on experience)
