This is a highly respected Independent Co-educational Boarding School located in South Cumbria.
The School is a vibrant, demanding and supportive community which encourages pupils and staff to be involved in as broad a range of activities as possible. Art, Drama and Music are especially strong, and the School has a national reputation for Sport.
The School is now seeking to recruit an experienced Chef to join their Catering Team. The position is permanent.
Working at this school is a lifestyle choice which is ideal for an experienced Chef who wants the stability of regular hours in a normal working day by escaping the uncertainty of life in a busy commercial kitchen.
Key Features of the Role:
Reporting directly to the Catering Manager the duties of the House Chef will be wide and varied and as a House Chef, you will be required to work five out of seven days per week between the hours of 06:30am until 15:30pm. (Various shifts may be available which could be tailored to suit your existing commitments.)
Your main responsibilities will be to prepare, assemble and cook all menu dishes, providing high quality food for the customers.
You will provide menu choices of freshly prepared food, which are agreed with Line Managers, and are nutritionally balanced and provide the highest quality service to pupils, staff, parents and guests in line with the schools standing.
You will be proactive in terms of menu development and new ideas.
You will liaise on a day to day basis with Matron/Lunch Supervisor to ensure standards are being met and needs of the children addressed and listen to all comments, and deal with them as appropriate, or pass on to a more senior member of staff to ensure prompt action is taken.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an accomplished Chef, competent and skilled to work in all areas of food preparation, cooking and service.
Ideally you will have attained a minimum catering qualification of City & Guilds 706 1-2 or equivalent.
You must have strong organisational skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal and have a flexible approach to work and be motivated by a passion for quality and great service delivery.
You will have a good knowledge of computers and the Microsoft Office Package and you must possess a Full UK Driving Licence.
