A couple is required to provide part-time gardening, minor general maintenance and cleaning services at the client’s premises in a village between Andover and Salisbury, in return for free accommodation; a package worth £12,500 p/a tax free. The gardening will require around 16 hours a week and housekeeping for 10 hours a week (not Sundays), where hours are flexible across the day. Additional maintenance/gardening work would also be available for applicants with relevant experience during the first twelve months while settling in, taking overall package to approx. £24k
Applications from suitably experienced ex-military personnel who would welcome the opportunity to live in free accommodation and work less than 26 hours / week are strongly encouraged.
Key Responsibilities:
Gardening – mowing lawns, cutting hedges, blowing leaves, cutting timber, sweeping tennis court, tending shrubs, watering fertilizing, weed-killing, planting bulbs; and any other seasonal activities in a garden of approx. 4 acres.
Maintenance – outside window cleaning (once or twice a year), power washing the patios, cleaning debris from gutters (be willing to work at height), basic vehicle maintaining, general handyman work.
Cleaning – vacuuming, dusting, mopping, polishing wood floors (wax), small amount of ironing, making beds, bathrooms, kitchen, loading/unloading dishwasher & washing machine, polishing brass and silver, thorough cleaning of kitchen (including oven and hob). Keeping clean the steps and patio outside the front of the house. In winter months, clean fire grate after use and make sure log basket is full. In summer months, make sure outdoor furniture is cleaned on a weekly basis and barbecue cleaned after use.
