The Company and the Role:

Exciting 18 Month Full Time Contract in London, working as an Architectural Design Manager managing refurbishment teams (internal and external), on historical and significant buildings.

The Company manages the comprehensive refurbishment of significant historic buildings, and they have taken on a medium level of intervention, with a high public profile, along with other existing major refurbishment programmes.

The role will require a quick impact Architectural Manager who is used to working in a fast moving architectural environment, leading and contributing to the design refurbishment.

With a number of internal and external stakeholders involved, this role requires an Architectural Design Manager who can work in an increasingly integrated environment.

The Company will expect you to provide a structure for the planning and coordination of stakeholder engagement, with an external consultant team, to provide (two-month forecast of engagement), and working with relationship managers to ensure requests are coordinated.

The Company will also require you to assist on pre-construction activities, tender opportunities and to control and interrogate the activities of external design consultants. Reporting to the Programme Director and Senior Project Leaders.

Key Features of the Role:

A skilled Architectural Design Manager who has a current working knowledge of the design process on complex construction projects.

Developing trust from stakeholders that their requirements will be met, and concise, effective communication between the various internal and external teams.

You will be expected to work with other Strategic Estates Design Managers and Design Authorities, to formulate best practice in design management techniques and reviews.

Manage the design process for all RIBA stages, providing innovation, safety and cost effective solutions, through value management activities at each completion stage.

Leading, ensuring and responsible for progress (OBC and FBC stages), timescales, delivery dates, reviews, amendments and changes to project, through effective and efficient communication, management and relationship building.

Knowledge and Skills:

As Design Manager you must have a proven current Architectural background, managing large or complex programmes in construction, drawings and technical specifications.

You must have excellent knowledge of value management, and be an Architect with ARB qualifications, with knowledge of design package software, and MCIOB qualifications.

You must be able to prove you have delivered to weekly and monthly targets and reporting across various stages of a programme / project lifecycle.

You must have delivered innovative, safe and cost effective solutions into Architectural Design for historic or significant buildings.

You must have assisted with procurement processes or cost verification, including negotiation with third parties, successful contract management and risk management.

You must have experience of ensuring the design process adheres to standards and codes of practice, in a strong team working and collaborative environment.

You must have excellent communications and presentation skills (written and oral) to internal and external stakeholders, using your sound business and negotiation skills.

What`s on Offer:

If you are successful with your application, testing and interview, then the Architectural Design Manager vacancy will offer you a basic salary ranging from £49,500 - £62,023pa.

You will be rewarded with a fixed term 18 month contract, directly on the Company payroll with the possibility of extension or permanency.

You will have a 36 hour working week, excluding daily meal breaks of one hour.

28 Days holiday per year (plus statutory holidays) and increase with service.
