Applications from ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Marines) are particularly relevant for this position.

The Role:

  • Whilst having a desk in the office, and being one of the management team, the majority of your time will be on the factory floor.  There are three areas of operation, concrete, cutting and fabrication; all three departments have a team leader. The production manager will oversee and assist these team leaders, ensuring the factory runs at maximum efficiency, dealing with welfare and discipline, having a watching brief over Health and Safety and environmental issues.  Hands on production is a daily task.
  • Using bespoke software to plan production and delivery schedules and working closely with the office manager who deals with pay and HR issues as well as orders for factory consumables.
  • Although plant and machinery is maintained and repaired by contractors, working knowledge of M&E Engineering would be an advantage.
  • Driving the business forward and getting the best out of the workforce in both attendance and production rates is key.

Essential Personal Attributes

  • Basic military engineering skills a distinct advantage

  • Positive, flexible attitude to work and the ability to perform well under pressure
  • Safety conscious at all times, observant and with good attention to detail

  • Previous management experience fundamental
  • Natural leader capable of driving the team forward
