Engineering Tutor/Assessor needed for Electrical Engineering
Monday to friday 09.00 - 3pm
Monday to Thursday 09.00 - 5pm
The tutor is responsible for a cesload of work based learners and to contribute towards student support, carry out scholarly activity, assist with recruitment and contribute to the management and administration of these programmes.
To coach and mentor the learners to ensure the individuals achieve their goals and aspirations
Carry out assessment and observation against national occupational standards
To ensure that timely achievement of qualifications are met
The tutor/Lecturer will contribute towards ensuring that academic quality and standards of the Academy are maintained and that the student experience is continually enhanced, as well as implementing and maintaining ethical standards.
Develop and Deliver resources and teaching materials for subjects such as Fitting, Turning & Milling to meet course frameworks and learning outcomes
Develop assessments to measure accurately students performance and understanding, whilst following regulations and verification procedures
Set, mark and assess students work, ensuring that learning outcomes have been met and that feedback is both detailed and constructive.
Carry out progress reviews ensuring all parties are involved
Manage and maintain learner files in line with audit requirements
Liaise with other tutors to ensure that the learners needs are met
Ensure a full embedding of maths and English are incorporated into their learning to continually enhance the individuals progression
Ensure a full embedding of all equal opportunities, safe guarding and health and safety requirement are complied with and all learners are given fair access to assessment.
Key Skills
To hold a current A1 Assessing award or equivalent
To hold a current teaching qualification to a minimum of Level 3 standard
Technically or industrially competent within Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering to a minimum of Level 3 standard and have a broad theoretical knowledge relating to mechanical engineering
To hold a qualification in Information, Advice and Guidance to a minimum of Level 3
To hold a qualification within Maths and English at Level 2 as a minimum
An ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to a wide range of people
be able to transfer essential skills for life in Maths and English
be able to coach and mentor learners - identifying strengths and weaknesses with the ability to influence and motivate learners
