The Company and the Role:
The Company is an International Peacekeeping Force which operates in the Sinai. As part of its role it maintains two military camps one in the North close to the Mediterranean coast and one in the South at Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
They are currently seeking an Installation Electrician to be based at the South Camp located at Sharm El Sheikh in the Sinai, Egypt. There may be spells of work in the North Camp as required. The position is offered on an 18 month contract.
Key Features of the Role:
Under the direction of the Project Manager you will provide expertise and quality assurance for low voltage electrical installations during a project to rewire a significant number of existing and new buildings at the South Camp.
You will plan, layout and install electrical cabling, equipment and fixtures to meet the requirements of drawings and project officer requirements.
Your work will comply with the requirements of British Standard 7671, 17th Edition, Amendment 15.
Knowledge and Skills:
You should be an accomplished Electrician, British 17th Edition, City & Guild, 2382-12, Certificated or equivalent.
You should have had experience of low voltage electrical installations during a project to rewire a significant number of buildings during the projects lifecycle.
Some supervisory team leader experience is highly desirable
Ideally you will have excellent knowledge of European, American and British standards and practice.
You should be a confident communicator with the ability to supervise, motivate, coach and train a team of Egyptian nationals.
Experience of working in a military environment or for an international facilities management services provider and other similar organisations would be ideal, as would experience of working in remote sites or in other arduous environments.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
Finally, you should be pc literate and possess a Drivers Licence.
What’s on Offer?
Salary will be around £36,000 pa. The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Included in the basic salary is a 20% location allowance payable and also a 7% allowance in lieu of a pension scheme, both of which are tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
An 18 month unaccompanied status contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, life assurance, health insurance and meals. In addition, employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
The holiday entitlement is 28.5 days plus 12 public holidays.
Our client does not provide a specified number of free flights but awards a cash sum each year in US Dollars which the employee can spend as they wish to facilitate their R and R leave. Mobilisation and De-Mobilisation flights are paid for by our client.
