SW5033: Resident Caretaker
Location: Dorset
Salary: £16,400 per annum plus a cottage
My client, based in Dorset, is looking to appoint an additional Residential Caretaker to work alongside the current incumbent to deliver flexible and efficient caretaking, to support the smooth running of the site. The successful candidate will work a shift system of earlies/lates on alternate weeks ensuring the security and general appearance of the buildings are maintained to an excellent standard. To allow the caretaker to react to emergencies and incidents on a 24 hour basis, on-site accommodation is provided (rent and utilities covered).
The successful candidate will have a security and maintenance background and be able to work without direct supervision but also as part of a team, with a good understanding of commonly used IT systems (e.g. Microsoft Word). Basic DIY skills are essential and knowledge and practical understanding of Health and Safety procedures would be an advantage, as would experience of working in an environment with children and young adults.

No formal qualifications are required, but you must be able to demonstrate a proven track record in DIY, for example from a construction background or from renovation projects, and you will need experience in security, such as an ex-serviceman or SIA site guard licence.
This post attracts the provision of on-site accommodation to allow the post incumbents to react to emergencies and incidents on a rota/24 hour basis (2 bed cottage). The Caretaker`s Line Manager will monitor the Caretaker`s out of normal activity responding to these emergencies and incidents and allow appropriate rest and recuperation to compensate.
This post will be covered by two individuals working the following routine:
Days: Monday to Friday 0630 - 1430 followed by a weekend off until 1500 on the following Monday.
Nights: Monday to Friday 1430 - 1830 and out of hours maintenance and on-call overnight and the following weekend switching to days for the following week.
The position is subject to a six month probationary period and enhanced CRB check.
